Am I the only one to have never noticed this error?

In continuing to go through bulk and examining each card, I noticed for the first time the base set defender 80/102 has what I guess is a print error on the two p’s in the word applying. They’ve got this little tail-like thing coming off the top of the letter. The two other lower case p’s in the word opponent’s several words before it dont have it. I checked a bunch of other defenders and they all have it. I cant believe I’ve never noticed this before! I’ve also never heard or seen this talked about before anywhere. It’s in the same catefory as vulpix I guess with the jacked up HP order. So am I just unobservant and late to the party or has other people never realised this either?

EDIT: immediately after making this post as I was checking it out, I realized that the word I’m talking about is italicized… perhaps all lower case p’s in that particular font are this way. So never mind the error talk haha. Just an observation it took me 20 years to notice!

I think it’s just the italicized font style from that era.

You’re indeed right. If I look at the Base Set Chansey, the p’s in happen are the same:
