Today I am revealing the current ‘Holy Grail’ of my collection. I have been searching for these cards for at least 4 or more years and I have been putting together the smallest amounts of information about their existence.
I learned about these cards when I was scrolling YouTube and checking out other peoples’ collections. I stumbled upon someone’s incomplete Nintendo Black Star Promo collection and they pointed these cards out stating that they knew very very little about them, but they had come from someone in Australia. The cards in question were the 001 Non-Holo Kyogre ex and 002 Non-Holo Groudon ex Nintendo Black Star promos missing the e-Reader bar codes on the bottom of the cards! My search had begun!
After years of looking, I never found that video again nor have I seen any pictures or scans of the cards. The only piece of information I had was that they were released in a kids’ magazine in Australia called ‘K-Zone’. The magazine is still produced today. I concluded that the issue I was searching for had to have been released in the year 2003 or 2004, but that was as far as I got. Until recently…
My very good friend Charlie expressed his interest in these and the hunt was on! It did not take him long to track them down and find someone with them who lived in the Netherlands (I believe?). I was shocked. All of my research had led me to Australia. I had no clue that they had been released else where as well. Out of the goodness of Charlie’s heart, he let me purchase the cards and they are now mine. I cannot thank him enough for his generosity. I definitely could not have done with without him!
