I have been playing and collecting Pokemon for about 6 years but never dabbled in sealed product before so feeling a bit like a magikarp out of water.
I am able to pick up loose packs of Furious Fists for £2.50 per pack and I was wondering if this sounds like a reasonable purchase. This is for collectability and for resale purchases a few years in the future. I see the the price of booster boxes from around that time are going up. will this be the same for loose packs.
Currently the lowest price for this set is £3.75 per pack
I understand that these packs could be weighed from that time. Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated.
If you are going for long-term investment then I would personally recommend avoiding loose packs. The problem is there is too many people playing games with resealing packs. So your future buyers are probably going to have the same concerns…why are these loose packs? is this person trying to sell resealed packs and so on. You might be getting them for cheap now but in the future you will also be getting less for them as well compared to sealed booster boxes.
With a sealed booster box, those concerns are eliminated as long as the plastic wrap has pokeballs on it and it looks like good condition. Never buy a booster box with a ripped plastic wrap. It will reduce the value of the box. Best way to go is factory sealed case with 6 booster boxes in it but that can be more expensive to buy.
Might be coming from those boxes where you get an assortment of packs. They can’t sell the boxes individually so they break them down and sell the packs as lots but still you can see the lower price they’re getting. If they had just bought sealed booster boxes then they would get the full value for each pack.
If you are going for them, make sure its a trusted seller. Had 2 different sellers in the last month send fake packs. One of them being a charity, when I sent in the refund they said someone donated them… they clearly did’t specialize in pokemon so felt bad about it.
