As already mentioned, prices have exploded for certain cards, especially graded WotC era cards. Cards like Jungle Pikachu/Eevee as 1st edition PSA-10 are 400-600 USD now, even though you can still buy raw NM copies for 1-2 US a piece. I sold my PSA-10 Red Cheeks 1st ed. Pikachu for 7.5k USD last week, which I bought for 350 USD in March last year (increased more than 20 times in prices in 1.5 year time… ). The full PSA-10 1st edition Base Set seems to be worth roughly 275k USD all combined.
Apart from that:
- pkonno continues to list extremely rare cards (Trophy cards; SNAP cards; Pokémon Illustrator; etc.)
- We have a single Giant Market thread now for almost all price and market related questions and discussions
- We have a new grading company: CGC
- @hyruleguardian compiled a list of all rare Pokémon cards with the help of forum members
- A lot of rare cards seem to be on the market lately due to the price and popularity increases (compared to a few years back at least)
- 1st ed. PSA-10 Charizards are around 80k-100k USD now, and a Pokémon Illustrator sold for 250k recently.
- People seem to enjoy making Pokémon TCG (or vegetable) tier lists
- Investing seems to be the new trend of 2020
I’m probably forgetting loads of things, so I might add more later.
On a personal level:
- I’ve been able to find the unlimited WCP Seviper for my collection after 3.5 years, which is currently incoming. After it and two Indonesian Seviper cards have arrived my Seviper collection will be 100% complete.
- My Full Art Supporter collection is complete
- Pikachus are still being released on a daily basis, but I need just 20-25 officially released Pikachu cards, and 40-50 unofficial to ‘complete’ my Pikachu collection
Oh, and welcome back!
Greetz,
