Hi guys, new here and was hoping for some insight. I bought this super clean gold star gyarados on eBay a year ago, was discounted cause it’s SGC but it’s an 8.5 and upon further inspection it’s really clean and I would like it PSA (i see no reason it cant get a 9)… was wondering if you guys have had more luck crossover grading or cracking (kinda nervous about this). The glare in the picture makes it seem like the corners are whitened but thats really just the edge of the card. Anyway, appreciate your input!!
I would be suprised if it got PSA 9 given the corners alone. I would expect PSA 8.
yea those corners alone would drop it to an 8, personally id rather have it in a psa slab
Take more photos of corners. Its looks like whitening, IMO PSA 8 if thats whitening.
I’d take a PSA 8 over an SGC 8.5 any day of the week.
I always crack and never cross-grade. I don’t want the old grade to influence their decision in any way.
I have a personal rule: until you crack it, you don’t really know. The surface condition is often overlooked, but it’s where surprises tend to show up! For me, a perfect surface would score an 8. If there are some scratches, it’s more like a 7.
Good luck!
This level of whitening would almost assuredly be a PSA 7 or 8, especially on a high-value card like a Gyarados . Never use the crossover service - it’s an actual scam. Crack and submit.
In your case, I would hope for a PSA 8 or higher, expect a PSA 7, and pray that you don’t get a PSA 6 due to a hidden/minor surface issue.
Good luck and let us know how it goes! It’s a great card regardless of the grade/label.
Pretty generous description, no?
Here we have a beyond clean mint gold star gyarados. This is an easy crossover grade or crack and reslab candidate for a PSA 9. Beautiful centering! Card will be shipped fast and secure upon purchase. There are no returns so please reach out with any questions about the card.
Disappointing. If it’s buyer’s remorse, simply sell it and take the loss, nobody’s perfect.
