Came up on the main UK headlines page…

Unsure where they got the Illustrator price from though lol!

When you are well, or even mildly, versed in a hobby. It’s always great to see the absolute bullshit that they spout on these types of articles.

For some reason it appears to show that @smpratte accepted an offer on his illustrator back in May. All you can see is that it was listed for $100,000 USD which is probably where the 75,000 pounds came from.

Though I am fairly sure this didn’t sell. Why does it show best offer accepted? I think I recall seeing it sold for $100k before in the sold listings area, but that was likely some dummy hitting buy it now then never paying. Maybe this was some dummy submitting a $50,000+ offer or something and Scott actually accepting in case it was real?

Gonna go with this^

It’s incredible. It also indicates that articles you read about things you aren’t familiar with should probably also be taken with a pinch/ton of salt.

If I can’t get the remaining Mythical and Pikachu box I am going to flip tables.

I know that the article is a lot of baloney, however I can report I have definitely seen an quite a dramatic increase in enquirers and sales since Pokemon Go has come out, I also think falling pound has helped for my personal situation!

Exciting Times Ahead

To be fair, the main point isn’t exactly wrong:

It may have increased popularity, but to say Pokemon Go has helped make old Pokemon cards worth thousands is wrong, no two ways about that

it has made alot of people list stuff for thousands more.

Pogo has most certainly influenced card prices. More collectors for the same stuff means skyrocketing prices.
I’ve had customers from 10-15 years ago getting back in touch to continue their collections:)

I had someone that I purchased a collection off of six years ago ask if I still had it because they wanted to buy it back.

It was an unfortunate and uncomfortable conversation all around but it does show the increase in interest in the cards as a direct result of Pokémon Go.

I still have my original collection

I’ve had a small increase since Pokemon Go came out too.

PoGo is definitely influencing my sales, and I’m not even really a seller.

This is the kind of thing im getting in my daily ebay alerts for pokemon card collection search:

I suppose this might influence a bunch of people to think things and make prices go up a little bit… and more people showing interest is going to get sales going… but dam

I gotta get me that krabby.

I HOPE IT FLUSHES OUT A BUNCH OF NO RARITAN ON YAHOOOo!!!

True, doesn’t really matter what you are searching there’s everytime bunch of new listings for old collections where every sales speech goes " good price, great investment, value will only go up because Pokemon GO".

@smpratte, the 9 illustrator is yours? oO

According to Google Trends, interest in Pokemon cards has gone up considerably

I recently made an iOS app to help me keep track of my collection and I’m thinking this might be a good time to put it on the app store.
