Possible resealed 1st edition fossil box?

Hey guys I have a 1st edition fossil box I bought that I am a little skeptical of. So everything checks out such as seals look good, wrapper feels legit, damage on wrapper matches damage on box underneath wrapper, passes the black light test no traces of glue. BUT as soon as I held the box I felt that it seemed a little “stuffed” or compact. so I weighed it and it is exactly 1lb 12.8oz. and I know thats a little heavy. So I took out my other about 25 1st edition or base set unlimited boxes including 4 other 1st edition fossil boxes and I never got a weight more than 1lb 11.8oz. Average was about 1lb 11.6oz on all the boxes. So I am trying to figure this out if this is legit as out of 25+ other boxes I never got that heavy of a weight. Let me know your thoughts and thank you in advance!

I don’t know the answer to your question but let me just say I am wildly impressed you could feel a 1 oz difference just by touch lol

What’s the weight of your lightest box? This one’s about 4% heavier than your average. Do you have any 4% lighter than your average, eg 1lb 10.6oz ?

Well if I take the weights of just my 4 other 1st ed fossil boxes the lowest weight on those are 1lb 11.7oz and highest being 1lb 11.8oz

LOL! it really was not that it felt like it weighed more its that it feels like the box has “more” in it. like I said it felt more dense.

I just checked again and I don’t have a box that goes down below 1lb 11.5oz. which actually makes my average a little more being about 1lb 11.07oz

God packs, all that holofoil just busting that box open!

Hm, so all 25 are between 1 1b, 11.5 - 11.8oz, and then this one is 1 1b 12.8oz… I don’t know if modern packs would make the box a full 4% heavier, it may be a packaging issue, but someone with more experience here can inform you better than me.

Yeah exactly. I mean I can see that the first two packs on top are fossil packs but not sure whats under those. I may be looking into this too much as I have yet to see reports of a resealed box with wizards logos wraps but can never be too careful these days.

Did a little experiment where I placed a heavy 1st edition fossil pack on a 1lb 11.9oz 1st ed fossil box and it brought the box weight up to 1lb 12.5oz which is very close to the box in question which is 1lb 12.8oz. Maybe it has an extra pack inside? If any one has some WOTC boxes that weigh almost 1lb 13oz please chime in.

After reading thru this was also my thought. Maybe a extra pack. Too bad you can’t open and find out. I’m already guessing by your collection description that you’re a sealed box kind of guy

Haha yeah I’ve never opened a box. Thats my thought as well as if someone resealed it why would they make it a heavier weight or put in one extra pack by accident? Makes no sense. Hopefully more people with some heavier boxes can chime in lol

Hol up. You have 25 fossil boxes?

Who did you buy it from if you don’t mind saying? If you have so many I would open it and sell the packs if its legit or grade the cards. I think paypal has protection for about 6 months on items sold.

woah that’s a lot of boxes!

You can also do a credit card charge back if you can confirm its been tampered with and you bought it recently. How you would convince the banks that its been resealed is beyond me though.
