As part of my ongoing effort to collect PSA graded Wizards Black Star promos, I bought a few of the Scan-tastic promos with Rapidash and Ho-oh
Here is my problem: the cards are mounted on the flyer wit some glue (!) on the back. While I think I did a good job on peeling the card without damage to corners-surface, I noticed that on the back of the card there is a remaining “halo” corresponding to where the glue uses to sit.
I don’t see how that would not completely kill the grade for PSA. The cards are otherwise potential 10s.
I would like to ask if any of you has any experience with this, and if so, is there a technique that avoids this issue or any way to partially removed the halo from the back of the card.
Thanks for reading so far, and thanks in advance for any advice.
BTW: Loved your video on your complete psa 10 set for the black star promos! it was the extra motivation i needed to go after the set
Do you think there is anything to be done to reduce the halo? There does not seem to be damage on the card itself and no residual “stickiness”. I tried gently using a soft eyeglass cleaning cloth but it dont think it helped much:(
I tried, but the back of the card was never as smooth or clean as a pack-fresh card. It was close and the cards were otherwise mint. I’d recommend you keep them as nice binder cards. The market is slim, even below cost, for low graded copies of these.
