Very light Japanese Base Set pack?

Hopefully the image attachment worked. So, I have a Japanese Base Set pack weighing in at 16.27g on a perfectly accurate scale. As far as I’m aware, these packs range from 16.4? to 16.9.

On the other hand, I’m also 10000% positive there is a holo inside, as the front card is majorly curving, as every holo card in my humid room does. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind its a holo card, and I’ve even offered to fully refund buyers if it isnt, I’m that positive.

I figured it was missing a card, so I measured the thickness of the pack and compared it to a japanese Rocket pack. Both packs measured the EXACT same, to the tenth of a millimeter.

How is it possible a “heavy” pack weighs THIS light? I almost want to record opening it to confirm it to people, but I’ve been trying to sell it as I’d like to buy other things.

Curious to hear everyone’s thoughts!

What did you use to measure the thickness? Cards are 0.30 mm thick (measured with mitutoyo caliper) and 10 of these is 3mm. I’m curious what the pack thickness is

That does seem very light. My range from a sealed box was 16.71-17.05g, and lightest from random loose packs is 16.42g

My box did have a monster pack as well, a chonkster that weighs 19.33g and is 3.67mm thick compared to 3.05mm

thats really interesting actually. I’ve seen boxes vary in weights a bit, so maybe this was just from a very light box

Forget the name of the thing, it was a little clamp-ish tool. The packs were 4.something mm thick, right under 4 and a half I believe, I can check exactly if you want though

Sounds like an Outside Caliper Micrometer. The measurement would be a nice data point to have.

You can also check a measurement on card thickness if you want to check against me. Are you measuring to the side of the pull tab on the back of the pack? If measuring purely the pack over the cards we can find the pack thickness

Both the Japanese rocket and base set pack measure 3mm thick, on the dot. If I try measuring the pack itself by pushing the cards up/down and clamping the tool down, it closes completely, so there’s not even a reading its so thin.

Thanks for taking the measurement. With these things its hard to confirm exactly what’s in the pack but at least we can assume 10 cards are in the pack. Good luck if you decide to open it!

How much is are you trying to sell this pack for?

I’m not sure if I’mm allowed to advertise on here, but my price is listed on my insta story. I’m pretty open to offers at this point since I know I can’t verify the card is curving over video exactly, but the pack also technically weighs light. Sort of an odd situation
