So I have 8 PSA graded packs that I graded myself on booster packs that I hadn’t weighed years ago… am just wondering out of some curiousity if these are possible to be weighed with some form of clarity? I don’t have the right digital scales to weigh - but I guess I could invest in one.
I suppose it’s eating me up inside that maybe I sealed up some badass holos in there .
Every item you weigh has variance. Each card varies, each booster wrapping varies. Each PSA slab would vary. The more other items you add the harder it will be to discern holo vs. non holo.
If the PSA cases vary in a larger amount than is the difference between a holo card and a non holo card, then you would have a hard time discerning holo from non holo. Seems fairly likely this would be the case. An $8 purchase of a scale may shed light. Your absolute heaviest pack would still be likelier than others to have a holo.
Sets also vary in their “weighability” as well and I’ve opened some boxes where the 12th holo resided in something like the 20th lightest pack where a perfectly weighed box would have it as the 12th lightest.
I agree! They are nice timeless pieces preserved in nice slabs.
I suppose I would be thinking — 6 of the 8 I graded came back Gem 10 - 2 came back 9s… maybe looking at cracking the 9s. I know I could weigh them at that point but if they are lighter/less chance of Holo just leaving in the Slabs.
I would crack them open and then weigh them, there’s a ton of value in being able to get a more precise measure of their weight. If they’re light you can always send them back for re-grading if that’s something you want to do.
