What are the best sleeves?

I have a question (I am pretty new to the tcg), does anyone know some good sleeves that protect the cards? Currently I do only have some bad sleeves to store my cards in.

I have sleeves for different purposes. When a card has value in sending it off to get graded, simple ultrapro penny sleeves so you can see the back of it when placed in a card saver.

However, if its not gradeable, there are lots of options. In my opinion the elite trainer deck sleeves are absolutely perfect, sturdy, and look great.

Otherwise Japanese KMC Sleeves or Dragon Shield sleeves.

Very similar reply as above - but just to give another opinion from someone who has dealt with almost every sleeve:

To maintain perfect condition: use Ultra Pro Penny Sleeves. Super cheap, delicate on cards, and slide in and out of toploaders easily with front and back clear viewing capabilities.

Sleeves for binder cards that aren’t concerned with keeping perfect: KMC Hyper Matte, Dragon Shield, or Ultra Pro all work well. KMC being my personal favorite for quality and look.

Sleeves for playing: KMC Hyper Matte and Dragon Shield Hands down. KMC Hyper Mattes are far superior in my opinion and slightly cheaper.

my opinion it is the ultra pro, pro-fit sleeve. It snugs the card very tight and has a premium look and feel.

Ugh I just bought 1000 of those pro-fit ones and I have to say…They are too snug for my Charizards. I feel like I’m going to bend the top edges when pressing them down. For now I have switched to Ultra Pro Premium ones. They’re a bit slimmer then the regular penny sleeves by ultra pro. Still waiting to find that perfect sleeve :slightly_frowning_face:

Thank you all!

I have received cards in sleeves so tight, the only way I could remove the sleeve was carefully slitting the seam with a knife.

I’ve used both KMC Supers and Hyper Mats with great results. I have noticed that the Hyper Mats are cut a bit shorter than the Supers, not sure why.

are the above sleeves stated for keeping cards in mint condition, sleeved then put in binder? why wouldnt kmc perfect fit do that?
Ive ordered some but not used yet

I tend to doubl e sleeve my holos and rares whatever the set and am currently moving from ultra pro pro-fit sleeves and ultra pro deck protector sleeves to KMC perfect fit and KMC hyper mat sleeves.

Having to re sleeve over 2000 cards is time consuming, and I have to say the different between the pro-fit and perfect fit are enormous, the pro-fit are cut very badly at the end, you can see the jaggered edges and they are definitely more tight that the perfect fit.

KMC sleeves are definitely worth their price point, especially when you consider the value of a certain card in comparison to the pennies double sleeving with KMC will cost.

I will upload some phots tomorrow of a comparison with the 4 different sleeves.

KMC perfect fits are too tight for many English cards as they are intended for the thinner & narrower Japanese card stocks. Especially for WOTC cards they fit is almost “damaging-ly” tight. Some people have had issues with them bowing WOTC holos though I have not personally experienced this issue… If you have to muscle the card into the sleeve it probably isn’t the best choice of sleeve for your card.

I’ll reiterate some previous conclusions, Ultra pro premium sleeves are excellent, 9/10. Also copy-write year 2015 or newer Ultra pro deck protectors (if you can find them ///not the older production) are another fantastic choice minus two caveats: 1. be careful when inserting the cards into the sleeves as the sleeve edges can damage the card. 2 the sleeves could do with some more height.
