I have a lot more than a couple of grand riding in cards.
As for the previous comments about who I am I can assure you I’m not “James Heywood”. I can guarentee I have no connection in any way to anyone at all here as far as I am aware, this may be false due to a few sales at conventions and events but I’m not aware of the screen names. And I can assure you I have much more than a couple of thousand in collectibles not just pokemon which bought me my first house. As far as pokemon go have been collecting since 1999 when I bought them for my kids (And for me in some cases).
The comment of funmonkey54 seems to back up exactly what I am saying. “This isn’t about having a couple grand in scattered collectibles or a box or two” arrogantly making assumptions that just because I choose to be a little more private I clearly don’t have anything of any real worth. Taking my comment about a grand or two and assuming it’s the value of my entire collection. Private sales of certain value cards and other pokemon related items paid in full for my first house 2-3 years ago and this was via a collector at Comicon san diego, one of which I regret selling due to its drastically increased value. As as far as first hand experience goes I think a real feat speaks for its self.
However just to quell further assumptions this doesn’t in the slightest mean I’m in it for the money. My real collection is something I take immense joy in and adding to however to get volitile to these degrees is ridiculous. As for the elitism even with a large collection and a lot of money doesn’t in any way make a person an authority. At the end of the day the only authority is the primary sources themselves.
Theres a difference between a dignified debate where you make headway and actually talking things over and shouting the loudest to ensure you are heard, which seems to be a trend here, not just on this post.
