1 million to 2 million dollar Pokémon card?

What do you see becoming the first 1 - 2 million dollar Pokémon card?

We know the psa 10 illustrator sold for 6 million and I think the highest a 1st ed base charizard sold for 400k. That’s such a large gap between 1 and 2 highest sales.

What do you guys see as being the first 1 - 2 million dollar card? How long until Pokémon gets to that point? Could it maybe be a booster box instead of a card that breaks the 1 million mark?

One of these

Im purely estimating here, but i think some old back trophies have probably sold privately for around half a million (assuming we arent including the illustrator?)

If i had to take a guess i would say itd probably be something like that over base charizard or a box

Im a little confused by the question tho bc pokemon is already at that point, unless ur saying specifically a Pokemon and not a trainer card?

I think it will be something like a Protostoise or a card not officially released like a Fan Club Shining Gyarados.

I’ve had cash + trade offers of 500k for one of my 97 pikas. Those and the illustrator are the front runners.

I think the psa 9 illustrator is my pick

Protistoise is a good one

a 1/1 Taylor Swift might beat the PSA 10 illustrator

PSA 9 Illustrator is probably the closest in terms of historical sales and current value.

I’d argue a Black Label / Perfect 1st ed Base Charizard would stand a fighting chance. Gary’s public offer for BGS 10 Pristine supports this. Although, the 97 Pikas are the most deserving imo.

There hasn’t been a black label of wotc right? Only three bgs 10s? Two are Gary’s and one is Logan’s.

I think there is one black label Japanese 1996 base charizard.

My guess would have been a psa 9 illustrator but yeah I wonder how much one of the three bgs 10s 1st ed charizards would go for

Did we hit 400k on zard during covid? I forgot

From a very quick google search that’s what I saw. When I say quick like a minute

Adding this in for anyone’s reference

The only right answer :orange_heart:

OG Pika Trophies
1st Ed Zard

No rarity Zard
Snap pika?

The artist collab cards. I feel like those are priceless.

gold star greninja is the only deserving of that price tag.

What are modern sports cards going for?

Wow, this is absolutely mind-blowing! The fact that a Pokémon card could fetch such an astronomical price range, from 1 million to 2 million dollars, is a testament to the enduring and ever-growing popularity of the franchise. It’s fascinating to see how these little collectible cards from our childhoods have evolved into high-value investments. I can’t help but feel a mix of nostalgia and amazement at the same time. It just goes to show the power of nostalgia and the passion that collectors have for their hobbies. I wonder what the future holds for the world of Pokémon card collecting!

Apologies if you’re legit but this sounds like ChatGPT.

No 1m-2m cards are even mentioned and the illustrator was not part of people’s childhoods lol.
