What do you see becoming the first 1 - 2 million dollar Pokémon card?
We know the psa 10 illustrator sold for 6 million and I think the highest a 1st ed base charizard sold for 400k. That’s such a large gap between 1 and 2 highest sales.
What do you guys see as being the first 1 - 2 million dollar card? How long until Pokémon gets to that point? Could it maybe be a booster box instead of a card that breaks the 1 million mark?
Im purely estimating here, but i think some old back trophies have probably sold privately for around half a million (assuming we arent including the illustrator?)
If i had to take a guess i would say itd probably be something like that over base charizard or a box
Im a little confused by the question tho bc pokemon is already at that point, unless ur saying specifically a Pokemon and not a trainer card?
PSA 9 Illustrator is probably the closest in terms of historical sales and current value.
I’d argue a Black Label / Perfect 1st ed Base Charizard would stand a fighting chance. Gary’s public offer for BGS 10 Pristine supports this. Although, the 97 Pikas are the most deserving imo.
Wow, this is absolutely mind-blowing! The fact that a Pokémon card could fetch such an astronomical price range, from 1 million to 2 million dollars, is a testament to the enduring and ever-growing popularity of the franchise. It’s fascinating to see how these little collectible cards from our childhoods have evolved into high-value investments. I can’t help but feel a mix of nostalgia and amazement at the same time. It just goes to show the power of nostalgia and the passion that collectors have for their hobbies. I wonder what the future holds for the world of Pokémon card collecting!
