1st Ed Gym Heroes Booster Box - Fake or nah?

Hey everyone!

Has anyone ever saw a fake 1st ed Gym Heroes Booster Pack?

I have purchased 32 boosters with box and gonna get them next week hopefully… However I find the box odd. The cut of the flap that says “Pokemon” is different than other 1st ed Boxes. I only realized that today unfortunately. The boxes looks sun faded, but everything else looked fine at first glance. Now everything is a big question in my mind.

Here is the listing: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pokemon-GYM-Heros-1-EDITION-32-Booster-in-Box/112861404598?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648

What is bugging my mind is the flap cut on top of the “O” in Pokémon.

Here a sealed genuine example:

What do you think?
Thank you!

It’s not correct, even the packs have the long crimp which is not typical, but I have seen packs such as jungle and neo discovery have the long crimp and they have been made in belgium, but this box does not appear to be made in belgium

Was it flagged as fake? Says it was removed!

Yeah, it is weird…how can I be certain?

You mean the listing? I don’t know, if it was removed I wouldn’t have been able to bid I guess.

Check the packs when you get them and see if they say ‘made in belgium’,

seller also sold an odd gym challenge box, with the same odd cut around the pokemon logo and same long crimps, both boxes look like cheap fakes as well

Opening a pack would tell you with 100% certainty, but may be harder to force a return if you open some packs, would be best to just do a straight return

edit; jungle packs with the long crimps sold by same seller with made in USA on the back, not a good sign!

I also got his jungle packs :unamused:

Man, what a mess… When I get them I will do a return straight away. How can I justify this to eBay?

Not 100% sure how to go about it, but you probably don’t want to say they’re counterfeit, you’ll likely be asked to get a 3rd party opinion and provide that to ebay

On packs, from Europe? That would be a big stretch and waiting. Would they ask that, it is not feasible

I’ve seen it happen plenty of times to people on this forum, just letting you know its a very real possibility

Thanks @acebren, I will return as “item doesn’t match description” and say the packs are don’t fell right, would that work? Or don’t say anything and just start return. Go with Paypal return?

Man, this is a lot of money all at once, I am a bit nervous

Message the seller first and request a return. If you are “REALLY” nervous you can offer to pay the return shipping. I think eBay will side with you though if it escalates. Sounds fishy as hell.

Yeah, I will send him a message saying that. I am not sure if he is aware that the packs are not legit. Thanks!

UPDATE:

I contacted the seller. He is sorry and said he was selling these boosters 16 years ago in his store of diecast models, in Germany.

He offered me 900€ partial refund, not sending the boosters back to him. He says he doesn’t accept returns.

What should I do? Accept this or start eBay return request?

If the boosters turn out to be real its a very big steal of a price, but there is no certainty, at least no consensus.

Thanks!

If you want full refund, you should file a ‘Not as Described’ case. Send them back to the seller and you’ll get full refund.

How much did you pay for the lot? they’re not real, but very cool oldschool fakes, might be fun to open, but not if you paid much more than 900 euro

go for the full refund imo
