With all the hype around base set in general I was askin gmyself what the current prices (if even trackable) of 1st Edition Boxes in other languages could be. To my understanding the most common ones are:
Chinese
German
Spanish
French
Is there any data available?
I believe there are also Dutch, Korean and Portuguese 1st edition, and maybe others.
I have been watching French first edition booster boxes, but unfortunately did not keep any data… Here are the trends through:
2018: ~$2,500/box
2019: ~$3,000-$3,500/box
Sept. 2020: $10,500/box
Oct. 2020: one sold for $16,500, then after that another one sold for $12,500
Since there are no boxes currently for sale on eBay, my best bet is that the current price is anywhere from $15,000 to $20,000.
We also had 1st edition base in Italian, the highest sale I’m aware of was for $15,000.
For 1st ed scarcity/rarity in order i would go
Spanish
German
French
Portuguese
Chinese
Korean
Italian
Dutch
This would be for sealed boxes. Booster packs is a whole different animal and unl. List is way differnt as well.
About a month ago one of the big name auction houses sold a 1st ed Base German box. I believe they were asking about $20k.
French sold for 15,000€ ($17,500) late September / early October on a FB group. Still in that range.
