1st Edition Base Set Booster Box Resealed?

Hey guys

So after watching TCA gamings video where it was found his base 1st ed box was a reseal, and being one of the best fakes ive ever seen… can anyone give insight on how this might have happened? He is an extremely experienced collector which could not see an issue with the seal on the wrap, so how can you confirm any 1st ed box or shadowless box hasn’t been tampered with now?

Any opinions would be appreciated!

Thanks

@spitfire42, Recommendation across the board is buy from a trusted or experienced seller. You can also buy from large scale businesses or auction houses that back their items. A good example would be Dave & Adams card store or TCA gaming himself. These are trusted sources that will sell you legitimate product or back their product if proven fake.

What not to do? Buy from packwrapper69 on Instagram or craigslist… lmao

Even eBay has buyer protection, but you better be certain of how to verify it once bought!!!

Yes 100% agree man always go with a well known source, but my main question is how can you identify a reseal? TCA only noticed because the box had unusual bends but not the wrapper? WOTC wrappers have always held a strong rep for being hard to remake so how was tcas box done so well? Its a concerning topic ive noticed now with high end boxes. What do you think?

No matter how good you think you are you can never 100% say if it’s legitimate or not. Example TCA gaming couldn’t even tell. Even if you go with a trusted seller you never know where they bought it. Even DA card world, they have a box up that they say is 99% shadowless but it 100% is not shadowless. Your taking a risk either way you look at it. Given the value of that 1st edition base box today I would never purchase one as it’s way too much of a risk.

Also whenever this question is asked, any given information can be read as “What should YOU look out for when resealing boxes? All scammers HATE these 7 easy to avoid-mistakes!” Watch me create a new account on here, ask the same question without context and (hopefully) get 0 replies besides “buy from a reputable source.”

Hmm good points but the big thing for me is the seal. Like i said before it is one of the hardest things to remake and yet they were able to completely hide any traces of it being tampered with. Can any of you suggest the best ways to authenticate the seals on a wotc box? Or even just things to look for when buying a box?

burnedos- Yes i understand your point thats why i am not getting into the technical side of how to reseal, my main concern is with verifying boxes and having a better understanding of what to look for when i am buying. TCA gamings video was extremely worrying to me because i have never seen a clean fake, almost all fakes i have seen have been shitty rewraps.

As I’ve offered on another thread, get the box to me and I’ll authenticate it. I had one guy ship to me last week and another member here on e4 driving down this week for me to see.

That’s the best I can do (please don’t ask for more) but am happy to do it for my friends in one of these two ways:)

You should write a Pokemon guide.

For a couple reasons I don’t like to share some secrets which you and some others understand;)
