2002 McDonald's E-Series Minimalistic Pack Thread

Does anyone else feel that the 2002 McDonald’s minimum pack from Japan is overlooked often for such amazing artwork? The packs go for $300+ with a guaranteed holo hit with all artwork within the set being unique. Especially being a 20 year old set… Too many good things to say about this gold nugget of a Japanese exclusive set. The only downside is the supply, there is a constant supply at 300+ and idk how many were distributed. To counter that, it HAS been 20 years.
Anyone else feel the same? Would love to start a discussion on this series :slight_smile:

This set is on my list for Japanese promos, I think the Charmander is absolutely an all-timer.

Eventually I’ll have it!

The Charmander and Squirtle are my favorites from this set!

I always get this 18 card set mixed up with the McDonald’s eSeries promos that feature the sunset Mew. I need to look up bulbapedia to see how the releases differ, and which came first.

The e-minimum were ‘packs’ meaning you get a pack when you buy any of the McDonalds products. There was no limit to how many packs you can get, provided you buy any of the McDonald’s product for each pack.

The other ‘Happy Promo set’ was included with Happy Meals and you only got a card with every happy mean purchase since this was not in pack form.

Are the packs searchable in any way?
There are 3 holo’s in total right? The Squirtle, Charmander and Pikachu.
Love the cards and would love to get one of the sealed packs too!

No! Guaranteed Holo in each one. There is no way of searching them. Only resealing

6 of them actually. One for each type. Squirtle, Charmander, Pikachu, Larvitar, Chikorita, Slowpoke.

Still bummed that Bulbasaur did not get a holo, I mean look at the smile.

How many cards came in each of those packs? There were no holos if I recall, and one of these two releases contains the Mew, and Umbreon?

I agree that this set is fantastic. My only thing is that can’t the holo effectively be a dud if it was an energy?

Now, I call it a dud only due to the price of the energies. On the contrary, I ABSOLUTELY love the foil energy as well, and would not be too mad if I got one. I’m trying to have enough of each holo energy to be able to run a full deck of each type.

But I’ve also never opened a pack of this, nor do I own any sealed. So if anyone could enlighten me as to the possibility of the aforementioned “dud pack”, I’d be appreciative.

Negative . Each pack comes with an energy holo AND a regular Holo. Each holo corresponds with what Holo you get. So electric for Pikachu or Grass for Chicarita
