Hey mates, it goes without saying that this year was a wild one for the hobby. Between record sales, new faces, new grading companies, etc. it seems like we’ve seen it all. With the new year just a week away I wanted to everyone to weigh in on what you think the top moments of the hobby were this year.
The meme about you liking your own messages is a top moment for me. To this day I check to see if you still like your own messages haha I just can’t help it!
Watching the live 1st edition box break by Logan Paul. Personally I’ve never been so excited and enjoyed a livestream as much as I did with that. The whole thing was just set up so well and it felt like the moment that Pokemon cards finally started to get the attention they deserve
A bit self-centered, but finding the last Seviper card for my collection that I had been searching for for the past 3.5 years. I now own all 132 Seviper cards (or 161 if I include other cards featuring Seviper), and a.f.a.i.k. it’s still the only single Pokémon TCG collection that’s complete in all available languages and variations in the world (although I know some whom are very close in completing their collections). I’m still very happy about adding that Japanese unlimited edition WCP Seviper.
Another top moment is seeing the hundreds of entries for the E4 Secret Santa event, more than double of previous years. I knew we had A LOT of new members this year, but it’s nice to see a lot of those members aren’t just here to make money off this hobby, but also to have fun within the community. (Merry Christmas everyone!)
My favorite thing 2020 was the discovery of the origin of the 1st Edition Ivy Pikachu Blackstar promo. That’s the essence of what makes e4 so great. Multiple experts working together to solve a 20 year old mystery, which probably wouldn’t have been possible without the community!
