78 slabs cracked! New binder setup coming soon 🔨👋 EDIT: 154 total

@Dizzle and I cracked 78 slabs:

I’m reorganizing my binders and decided that this massive stash needed a proper resting place. How does everyone feel about this?

EDIT: I cracked another 76 slabs after this :money_with_wings:

I’m all for cracking slabs. How long did it take to crack that many slabs though?

I think like 20 minutes? We got really good at cracking. I did a bunch more last night

Oh that’s good. Way faster than what I had in mind.

What’s the black card holding case in the background?

It’s a Palms Off Gaming graded card case:

They hold PSA and CGC slabs well, but SGC slabs are too tall and BGS might be too wide.

I was pretty disappointed with the fact that the limited edition case is smaller than the regular one, regular one can hold PSA slabs in PSA sleeves, but not the limited edition one. :frowning:

I love cracking non-Mint slabs. Mint slabs… :grimacing:
But what I like doesn’t really matter. You do you, @godcomplex ! Be sure to send pictures. Binder collections are cooler!

I love cracking slabs, the higher the grade the more dopamine I get from smashing that plastic prison.

I kept that all of my 10s but 9s only if they have monetary value. Otherwise, :hammer:

Don’t forget you can also post on the cracked slabs for binder thread. We’d be happy to have you!

Waiting for the result picture :eyes:

what do you find is the best when slab crackin? I have a plethora of cards that I want to free, and I feel like it takes me so long to do. Its messy, its dangerous too. Currently im using either a box cutter blade cutting tool. Its like a thing where it has the blade in a scissor grip and the opposite side is just a flat rubber mat. and so when the blade dulls you swap it out. Thats been the best so far. I crack the 4 edges in a trash bag(but still shards punch right through it sometimes). And I wear a full on face shield. a piece did hit it once already, so thank goodness.

You’re going to hurt yourself using a box cutter blade. Take a pair of wire cutters, snip off the top corners and the top edge, stick a flathead screwdriver between the top and bottom slab and separate them by about an inch. Hold the top and bottom slab open with one hand, and grab the card with the other hand or a sleeve.

I should have just shown what it is. You misunderstand me. Its not a box cutter. Its this doodad, it doesn’t really have a distinct name

The little promo video actually does a great job showing off how it works. I’ve kind of become a big fan of it. It just uses box cutter blades.

The screwdriver part is of course, a known aspect. I didn’t mention it. I have one of those baby sized ones. My real concern is the flying shards of plastic. I might just not be cut out for it. No pun intended there. But I really find the process stressful, and didn’t realize it until i started to have to do it. And now I’m in a pickle. Maybe I just need to be patient and accept it takes time.

Ah, I see. A box cutter blade is too thin to work effectively on graded card plastic. Use wire cutters and crack those corners/edge in a gallon-sized plastic bag to prevent shards from getting everywhere.

This is what I do too, so I second it. The only method I would change is not to grab the card and try to slide it out in the off chance my hand slips. It did once, so now I just pry the sides completely apart after the corners, and top sides are free. I need to honestly make a video on this if there isnt already one.

OOORrrr you could wear safety glasses and let the plastic fly. More cleanup, but more fun. :metal:
