I’ve had these cards for a few years now, however I do not have much experience selling expensive items on EBay.
Recently, I listed these items on EBay and immediately received several offers within the first hour. The majority of these offers appeared to be spam responses/scams. One or two of them seemed like they could be legit, but I was not fully confident that the offers/accounts were trustworthy. I know that many people have had difficult times in the past being scammed by buyers on EBay.
My question for those of you with experience selling is-
How do I safely sell expensive items on EBay without being conned out of what I am selling after shipping? What are some steps that can be taken to prevent being screwed over?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Following as i also am interested, because i have not much feedback on my eBay account that it may be easier for me to get scammed from buyers. Thanks for posting @1stedition
There’s a few things you can do, e.g., prevent buyers with >=1 non-paying strikes from purchasing your items, users with <= -1 feedback, etc. Personally, I’ve chosen to turn off all international selling - while the Global Shipping Program can help with shipping liability to the buyer, it doesn’t help much if the buyer starts pulling some funny business in a return request.
I think the vast majority of sellers on this forum will tell you that scammer buyers are pretty rare, and not something that you should worry too much about. My experience has been that higher value items attract a higher-quality buyer than the buyers who are purchasing lower-value cards.
Depending on the amount of cards you’re selling and the prices you’re hoping to get for them, sending your cards to PWCC may be your best bet. There are some variables here that might not make this the best choice, but if you feel there is value from not having to deal with any aspect of the actual selling part when it comes to selling your collection, the trade-off of not getting maximum value may be worth it.
