Amazing Rares

Hi,

Discussion here… was anyone else loving the amazing rare cards? I realize they made 1 of each energy type, but I was actually thinking this was going to be a new rarity (and based off the sets) we’d have 3-7 amazing rares per set. Is anyone else super disappointed they stopped making these? I was thinking with getting 3-7 per set, we’d get one of each legendary Pokemon. Super bummed! I dont get why they did not make more of these in each set if so many people like them… I was hoping it would be a regular rarity from here on out like v cards, full arts, secret rares.

Amazing Rares follow in the tradition of things like Shining cards from Neo Revelation and Neo Destiny. They’re really cool themed rares that form their own sort of mini-set, but they are never seem to last long. I really loved the “Pokémon with their trainer” full arts from Cosmic Eclipse too. I definitely wish they stuck with themed ideas like this for longer.

I’ve thought they cast these concepts aside too soon. It bums me out.

(Edit: Assuming they don’t make more, of course.)

the cant not do more…they missed Groudon, suicune, entei.

I really liked the idea, but the cards just did not do it for me. It was really hyped up and it sparked my interest. But when I had one in hand for the first time, I just thought they were meh. Probably should go in the unpopular opinions thread though.

No. I’m sorry to inform you but you’re the only person who likes amazing rares :pensive:

Is this speculation or did they actually stop with Amazing rares and only planned one for each energy type?

Speculation - I mean why else would they stop? It’s weird they stopped these though, a lot of people like them

I like them a lot, it would be nice to see them continue.

I was holding out for more AR during the 25th anniversary set but you might be correct considering historically they’ve done this with shinings and CHR.

Thanks for saying that, I almost thought I was the only one.
I liked the concept and the layout of the cards, but the artworks themselves were suuuper mediocre imho.
To each their own though, they certainly have a fanbase for good reasons.

My opinion is they were so hyped just because of the climate of the hobby when they released.

I don’t see them as any different to prism star cards.

I don’t care for prism star. The appeal for amazing rares was the 2D dynamic art of legendary Pokémon with colorful backgrounds. The art is just neat

I think I have mentioned this before not too long ago.

Amazing Rares are a gimmick rarity of year 1, they are essentially the Shining Legends ‘Shinings’ of this generation.

S3a Legendary Heartbeat is actually very similar to SM3+ Shining Legends, subsets, both a july release in year 1.

The 3 SSV AR’s probably didn’t fit or were cut intentionally and thrown in the High Class Pack set, where these ‘leftover’ cards are made for that kind of set.

Yeah, i’m pretty sure ARs are done for. Very slim chance these would come back. Definitely a thing of year 1 and I don’t see them coming during the Rapid/Single Strike sets at all.

Plus we now have 1 of every type.

We will get V-UNION now soon too as a new type of V card. And V STAR was also trademarked a while ago. That could very well be the gimmick rarity for year 2.

I think why so many people like them is it’s a bit of a throw back to the original non full art holos - design didn’t feel overwhelming, had some nice touches of glitter to them, etc. I really like them and will continue to buy them for $2-3 ea from japan

I think they are really cool. I very much like the holo pattern around the cards.

Ive heard this argument several times, but to me, regular modern holos remind me more of vintage holos than amazing rares did. To each his own, though.

I wish pokemon did amazing rares for all legendaries, at least I thought that was the original plan.

The ‘from Japan’ part of your comment says it all.

Unappealing as these may look in their English version, I find the Japanese versions incredibly beautiful. Same happened with the SVs in Shining Fates. English yellow borders really detract from the aesthetics of certain cards, and the fact that the more visually appealing version is so cheap makes these a buy in my books as well.

I love them and want them to come back. They can replace the rainbow rares
