Any information about this Pokémon?

I just received the Pikachus & Eevee box in Spanish (because I couldn’t find any Spanish Pikachu singles), and opened the booster packs that came with it. One card was the Chansey from the Lost Thunder set. In the artwork we see Chansey of course, but also two stuffed animals (or should I say Pokémon), which are Clefairy and another unknown one. Here is that unknown Pokémon circled in blue on the card:

Does anyone has any information on this Pokémon? It’s not in the National Index list. Although I do remember seeing a sprite of it once as a placeholder in the list, like they sometimes do with upcoming Pokémon. I’m just curious about what this is, so any information about it at all is welcome.

Substitute / PokéDoll from the videogame.

Actually, to be more precise. The Clefairy is a Clefairy Doll (Base set card) and the other one is the in-game design for the Substitute attack and the PokéDoll.

Strange it was never released as a Pokémon, but you’re indeed right. Actually came across the same page just yet that you link: bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Substitute_(move)#Sprites.

Glad that mystery was solved.

One additional question: are there any more cards which has the Substitute PokéDoll in the artwork? Or is this Chansey the only one?

I know of the “Robo Substitute”

I think you really have to dig deep in the trainer cards. Because I cannot recall any of them.

I’m pretty sure there are other cards with the substitute in them…but, here’s one off the top of my head; m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Robo_Substitute_(Phantom_Forces_102)

Yeah it’s the form of Substitute, it’s an attack in the game. So when your Pokemon goes into Substitute it takes that exact form shown on the Clefairy card and it protects the Pokemon from damage until certain point. I’ve always thought it looks cute, they’ve also made real plushes of it. So even though it’s not an actual Pokemon it has had quite a bit of exposure in the franchise.

Mimikyu from SM Guardians Rising has one, too:

I’m disappointed in you, @quuador , for not already noticing that one! :stuck_out_tongue:

Wtf lol, never noticed that… That’s what I get for collecting Mimikyu but never taking the time to look closely at the artworks like I do regularly with Seviper and Pikachu… I guess it was a good idea that I decided to stop collecting Mimikyus…

Yeah, that one I knew about. Saw it recently when looking at all the cards in the set. And rofl at that Pikachu tag on the Pokéball cushion. PS: Now I want a Pokéball beanbag…

I always thought of it as a mini kangaskhan for the coloring

same. as in the baby khan. kinda like the way they were drawn in the manga.
