Hi all! I unearthed my childhood collection and would appreciate any thoughts you all have on how to approach grading/selling a large number of old cards. Is it worth grading a bunch of these? Is it advisable to just find a card shop that deals with Pokemon cards and have them take a cut in exchange for helping sell some of these? If anyone also has cards they’d recommend specifically looking out that’d be insanely helpful, too.
Here’s a link to a video of the primary binder: https://imgur.com/a/NT7XoD6
And pics of the holos (just realized the vid length gets cut off): https://imgur.com/a/L7kwluq
For context, I collected cards from the first base set through the start of Neo. The binder shown in the video is the primary collection from back then (English cards on the right, Japanese on the left), though there are additional binders with dupes/triples of 3/4 of the cards shown (more or less than that depending on set) as well as promo cards and (oddly) 3-4 full Japanese Neo sets from a trip to Japan. I realize a video’s quick and terrible but wasn’t sure how to best show a wide variety of cards in a short time without posting hundreds of pictures.
My primary goal would be the eventual sale of worthwhile cards, as I’ve got a kid on the way and my deeper nostalgia with Pokemon relates more toward battling with the cards and playing the games instead of keeping a full collection.
Edit: Everything’s been kept in these binders since the original packs were opened, so no hard sleeves and the like. It’s all in pretty good condition (no general wear and tear, so I’d guess 7s and up for just about all of this?) but I have no experience myself with speculating what a proper grade would be so take that with a grain of salt.
