Base set 1st ed Commons/Uncommons

I finally want to start working on my base set 1st ed common/uncommon psa 9 set. I know the prices of some vary but if I was to try to grade a lot of my own what would a good price point to try to buy some commons/uncommons if I can find any in good condition and am buying in good quantities? Or should I just go for the individual card route and buy them that way? Thanks for any feedback, it’s always appreciated!

I think for the price that you can pick most of these up already graded at PSA 9 it’s probably better and easier just to buy the guaranteed grade. Unless you have a stack of mint cards laying around already to grade or you get fairly lucky with a purchase.

I agree with @fireftw87, because the cost of sending a card in for grading and hoping for it to get a 9 or better is riskier and more time consuming than going and buying the already PSA graded example of the card. Unless you are like me, where I went on eBay last year and was able to score a complete non Holo first Ed. Base set in pack fresh condition, and all of the cards came back 8s-10s from PSA. I know if I was you, I would buy the cards already graded because of the guarantee of the grade.
Best of luck to you!!

In this scenario i’d go for graded cards instead of grading them yourself; most of the cards are really cheap; and the fact that grading 1 card costs around 8$ per; and you’re not guaranteed 9; puts you in a situation were buying the 9 might end up being cheaper.

Imagine going for 50 raw 1st Edition cards; grading them at U$S8 per; and getting grades you didnt desire. In the other hand if your cards are mint, and you score some 10s, there might be some serious profit to be made.

Thanks for the input everyone. Buying graded is what I was leaning toward.
