If CGC were free and 1 day turnaround time, or BGS were free and 1 day turnaround time, I would still pick PSA for 97.5% of my cards at $18 and 3 month turnaround.

Cgc would be busier than psa then lol. Pregrading.

Agreed. A monopoly would be horrendous. I voted for psa.

All sucks imo but PSA is the least suckish.

PSA is overall the best but I like the look of BGS 9.5. I just never want to willingly submit cards to BGS

The primary purpose of a grading company is to get the public to trust and value their grades to circumvent condition discrepancies and ease the exchange process of cards. And no other company comes even close to PSA in terms of that trust and reputation, so PSA is the best. It’s not even close. (At least in Pokemon)

I’ve come to dislike seeing half grades below 9, but I think BGS and CGC offer good value if you’re purchasing a 9.5 that is PSA 10 quality. I do like how CGC and PSA cases are similar in feel/size compared to the bulkier BGS slab that won’t fit in my graded card boxes. When I used to collect graded coins, I preferred PCGS to NGC. The clarity of CGC cases is unparalleled, but PSA cases feel really really good in hand for some reason and they’re what got me into graded cards. PSA is the standard and probably always will be.

Even though I started to branch out into Weiss, I’ll probably never submit to BGS-and I’m a three hour drive from them!

Gotta go with CGC/PSA for personal collection and, in my opinion, CGC is the best alternative card grading service to come out of the boom-though they maybe should think of lowering their costs, especially sub-grades. (15$!)

PSA always even though sometimes they love hitting me with a random 4/6 here and there. It spices our relationship up.

Theres reasons why PSA was the most preferred since the 1990’s.

Im not sure if you inserted BGS into PSA’s position back then, that youd replicate the norm today - but id probably say yes?

Keeps it spicy

Poll closed. PSA with the obvious win. Surprised cgc beat bgs.

Thank you again for voting and dealing with my dumb polls.

As always I’m very thankful to everyone.

Cheers

I’ve only recently got back into the hobby after taking a few years off. I was curious as to why so many cards were showing up with CGC grades and assumed it was the turnaround. The labels on PSA cards aren’t flashy but man these CGC ones look so bad.

CGC looks better in person imo, including a better in hand appeal

When I started collecting, all my slabs were by PSA graded.

However, I have to admit that lately I have been getting more into BGS 9.5 and BGS 10 cards as well.
I’m sure there are some CGC deals to be snagged as well, but regrading seems like it would be a hassle and I can’t get over the design of the label

I’ve actually acquired some CGC Perfect cards since and I agree. They do look better. I like the rounded edges of the case as well.

I’m still going to try and cross grade them for black labels though lol
