I wanted to know what’s your best recommendations for ordering 50 (or 100) copies of modern-Japanese decks/booster-boxes. I live in the US (California), but do not mind ordering from anywhere as long as the price is low and the available quantity is high enough.
Ebay is hit-and-miss; yes you may find a US seller, which is a plus, but for example the VMAX Charizard deck is roughly 3x the price compared to Amiami. I remember SMPratte once recommended Amiami, but over there you are limited to 6 per person as far as I can tell. I use Ebay for a variety of purchases, but right now I specifically want to focus on Japanese options outside of it, so that I can check them in the future if Ebay is not showing me listings I’m content with.
On another thread I saw someone recommend ‘miyabihobby’, but literally every single booster box on their website (even pre-orders) is “sold out”…
If I need to talk to a distributor that’s okay, but I would need recommendations. I am aware that in the past year or so, one of the distributors was essentially told to stop selling outside of Japan.
I do not mind waiting over a month for an order to arrive. Price is the only priority.
When remix bout came out on amiami preorder they had a Max order of 6 boxes. I submitted my order and for whatever reason I cannot remember a couple days later I did another order for 6 more boxes and it went through and I received all 12 with no problem.
Long story short: you cannot get large quantities of Japanese product at near or below retail pricing without doing something really serious like setting up a real middleman with a Japanese card store and distributor access.
The middleman idea makes sense. I’ve been meaning to chat with Card Secret, to see what they might be able to do in the future.
Throwing this out there in case it benefits anyone else – I realized that as a patron, I could shoot SMPratte a quick DM on Patreon if he had the time to answer. (Considering the answer is fairly basic info I think it’s okay to share here.) I asked how he got his recent Japanese Charizard decks:
“I bought mine on yahoo japan awhile back, but that seller is out of stock. International buyers are at the mercy of the second hand market. You will probably have to buy from multiple source on YJ.”
