Beware of New Ebay Scam

So this morning I bought the following item on Ebay:

What a fantastic deal right?..

Seller had 0 Feedback and was listed as located in the Russian Federation.

Sent funds to seller via Paypal.

I then received multiple emails about an hour later which were Ebay Customer Support chat transcripts. (weird I never talked to Ebay CS…)

The seller used my information from Paypal (name, address, phone #) and impersonated me to Ebay Customer Service.

He claimed to the first CSR that the item was not received and they opened a case for him against himself. (weird right?..read on…)

He told the second CSR the item was received and provided a tracking # that actually was delivered to my city somehow on 11/2. The CSR asked for my DOB and he disconnected. (now I get the scam…)

He told the third CSR the same thing and the CSR closed the case in the sellers favor. (wow…)

I have now explained this situation to multiple Ebay CSR’s and need to wait 72 hours for someone to reach out - funds have already been released to this guy.

Can not believe the incompetence involved here and am sharing this with the community so it does not happen to you.

@cardstockpile, Putin collects Pokemon cards?

In all seriousness that’s an incredibly slimy move. Hope eBay opens their eyes and sides with you.
They should realize that while FedEx is pretty good they have yet to deliver a package 8 days before it was sent.

yuck that really sucks… Do you think changing your paypal name to something other than your real name would have helped avoid this?

So you paid on November 10 yet it was delivered on November 2? How does a big company like eBay fall for this shit?

Seems legit to me :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Has to be those Russian time machines. Couldn’t believe it… ordered the item at 10:30 am and they had opened and decided the case in his favor by noon.

Wow, this is awful. I hope eBay corrects this for you and you get your money back.

My probably unpopular opinion:
Accounts with zero or low feedback should have their sales money held by eBay/PayPal for at least a month. The only way these low feedback sellers should be able to get their money sooner than a month would be if the buyer has explicitly left the seller a review and confirmed that they received the item as described.

What’s the sellers name! Might as well put them on blast. They already proceeded with the scam.

Generatorpro1 was the sellers name. The sad part is I can see he sold someone else the same exact item today so I’m sure this happened to them as well.

Had a similar scam happen to me the other day purchasing some card saver 1s that were only $35 for 200 so I should have known it was too good to be true. Seller was located in North Carolina it said, and then the tracking had it ship from Ohio where I’m located and claim it was delivered. Never saw a package after a few days and called UPS and told them my name and address and they said it was not the name or address on that tracking number. Weird thing is that the package tracking says it was signed for so who would have signed for it in my town when they hadn’t ordered anything ?? Just opened a did not receive case yesterday. Seller was michellke-0 and they even have plenty of feedback but now have negative feedback after my experience and seems that others are having the same issue now too.

lol he got that third stupid employee who doesn’t give a shit. I saw some listing recently of cards I wanted from Russia, I was like pass even at the price its fishy…Aus, Canada and some european countries is all I will order from.

so these scammers are finding packages delivered in same zip code I assume and using that tracking number to pass as their own. These are some real low life people.

Real question is why the hell you bought it in the first place. Those listings are instant scams, and it’s from Russia. If it’s a graded card severely below market those are basically always scams.

Yup third one didn’t care although I’m sure this guy would have kept going until he found a csr who helped him. Crazy world we live in.

Ah so it’s the buyers fault for buying something on an international marketplace with supposed buyer protection and then not training the eBay employees properly. Got it. The point of this post is to protect others who may not be as well versed on eBay and to display how easy it really is for someone to steal your money.

Still don’t understand how they are getting the tracking #’s - adds another level to the scam in their favor

Hacking^

That stuff goes unchecked. Russia doesn’t even care as long as they aren’t doing it to Russians.

Half the shady crypto scams and exchanges that exit scam are Russian mob owned and operated
