Are you interested in additional English variants?

Mewtwo #3 and Mewtwo #12 both have difficult to discern Japanese releases, but the card is in English and very closely resembles the regular English card. There is also GOTTA Magazine Mew #8, printed on glossy cardstock. These all distinctly carry the Black Star Promo symbol and set number despite being variant re-releases.

You might also consider the two “Gray Star” promos - Pikachu #1 and Jigglypuff #7 - which were released in English through CoroCoro. They are kind of their own thing but the similarity speaks for itself. These cards are also in English.

I’m not sure about the others, but the Marill Black Star is also in Portuguese. So possibly some of the earlier ones are also too?

@stagecoach Do Mewtwo #3 and #12 differ from the English release only in being glossy? I can’t find any pictures of them…

@TheMarillFoundation Thanks! Didn’t know that.

Mewtwo #3 and #12 are unique printings using the same design file. Detecting the difference is difficult and comes down to color comparison. They are the most subtle English variants in the hobby.

#3 is known as the “Kanzenban” release distributed with the special edition VHS of the First Movie and #12 came from a Jr Stamp Rally. That one is easy to find because of its unique packaging, similar to the Non-Holo Meowth.

GOTTA Magazine Mew is very distinct and has a glossy finish. There is also a French Pikachu #4 in the same spirit, which is also Glossy.

I was curious about this aswell so i made my own list of what i could find online. I will search for it and let you know if i find something that isn’t on yours + comments given. Not sure my list was as big as yours but who knows.

That’d be awesome. Thanks!

The #4 Pikachu is indeed the only one that was released in Dutch. However, there are two versions of it. One from the World Collection set with the gold tail, and one (I believe the movie promo) without the gold tail.

Edit: Added pictures. Notice the difference in the first attack as well.

This is a good reminder - don’t overlook the variants in the Australian 2000 Olympics collection.

You’re missing a few Pikachu, like the French Birthday, Flying, and Surfing Pikachu for example. To quote myself from an earlier similar post:

Some others I’ve noticed (haven’t looked too closely besides the Pikachu tbh):

  • #3 Mewtwo is also released in Korean
  • #20 Psyduck is also released in German, French, Italian, and Portuguese
  • The legendary birds (#21-23) were also released in Portuguese

And yes, Pikachu was the only Dutch promo (both with and without Pikachu stamp, as mentioned in a comment above). The other WB promos weren’t released in Dutch.

@deblasnoya Thanks for the pictures

@quuador That’s very helpful, thank you. If you could take a look at the rest of my list, that would be great. Much appreciated

I compared my list just now and I had a few but most of the ones I saw you did not noted where mentioned by @quuador. I did had the #3 mewtwo written as korean and not the #14, can’t remember where I got the info from so I actually assume I was wrong on that one. You did have a few I did not write down as well so I’m happy to have added the info.
Edit: there is also the aerodactyl with prerelease stamp in GER and IT and also the W-stamp jungle pikachu in IT and possibly other languges… Should write my sources down more often.

2nd edit: I just looked it up and the Korean promo is the BS #3 but it’s a typo and it reads 14 on the card lol.

Do you currently still have these black star promos in different languages?

Where can I find the dutch copy without the gold tail

Quuaddy has some info in his collection thread

Looks like there is a copy for sale on eBay for $100 if you’re more looking for a copy to buy

That’s the world collection. I’d like the one without the tail stamp. Also I wish there was a website to buy this cards from in different languages. eBay isn’t really helpful

These regional European cards are very hard to buy. They’re hard to search, hard to find, and hard to purchase. Your best bet is probably going to be searching European versions of eBay the same way people search Japanese sites like Yahoo and Mercari.

My bad, thought that one didn’t have the tail! My eyes are playing tricks on me

I’ve located tonight these. Tell me how far rare they are bc some are in horrible condition where if I grade it I’d probably just get it authenticated and not graded.
Wanna know if some copies I should pass bc of the poor condition the card is in

All are black Star promos and non gold tail

I have not found evidence that “Unown J” Promo has been launched in Spanish.
However, there’s evidence that this promo has been launched in the other languages mentioned.

:warning: If you have image evidence that this promo has been launched in Spanish, reply this message with an image
