Booster Boxes Price Increase

I’m curious to see how the prices of Booster Boxes have gone up over the years. Is there any way to see what they would have sold for even 2-5 years ago? Stuff from WoTC and the EX series boxes. Or would anyone be able to provide maybe what they paid for their boxes during these periods? Would be just cool to see.

Thanks

way back in the days like early 2010 people can buy sealed booster boxes for very very cheap prices. i remember seeing so many like

base set unlimited 100-250
jungle 100-150
fossil 100-150
team rocket 100-200
neo boosters were the hardest to find and very few poped up every so often
the e-reader boosters were pretty hard to find also especially case fresh ones
many of the ex boxes were only wanted for the gold stars
ex fr/lg 300-600
ex crystal guardians 200-400

but thanks to social media and youtube prices went sky high LOL

Skyridge for $300 omg my dreams are crushed hahaha. But what’s the difference between a ‘base set shadowless’ and ‘base set green wing’ box? I always assumed the green winged charizard was a shadowless box? Is there a way to differentiate from the 2?

If the wizards logo is on the box wrapping there’s a good chance it’s just an unlimited box, but there is a very slight chance that there’s shadowless cards in the box. If there’s no logos on the box wrapping there’s a good chance it’s a shadowless box, but there’s a very slight chance there’s unlimited cards in the box.

I actually just purchased and opened a Green Wing Box with the Logos, only difference was there was 1 country code on the bottom…

End up having shadowless packs and cards Inside!

If only I started collecting again 3 years earlier. :slightly_frowning_face:

@pokematt

A Base Set Shadowless is a Green Wing Charizard clear wrapped box and the packs have the same way of seal like the 1st editions(longer ends)

After some research and watching lots of videos of people opening boxes it appeared as though only boxes with no logo and 1 country code on the bottom contained shadowless packs. But then I just saw another person on Instagram open a sealed box WITH the wizard logos on the wrapping and 1 country code and he also got shadowless packs… So I feel like it really is just a bargain with these boxes lol. There’s no way to be 100% certain

Lol that one guy on Instagram is me… :wink:

And I’m the 3rd person I know of who has opened a box exactly like mine and got shadowless in it

Haha that’s awesome bro congrats! Did you know it was going to be shadowless or you just took a risk?

iF YOU DIDNT FILM IT… I WILL DESTROY YOU.

Some prices I remember from early 2014.

1st ed. Neo Genesis → up to $400, usually much less in auctions
unlimited Gym Heroes/Challenge → up to $300
Red logo Jungle → $200
1st ed. Team Rocket → $250 ( insane amount of listings for this )
1st ed. Fossil → $250 ( -||- )
unlimited Base set → $500

Oh yes, most of ex series boxes were 1/2 or 1/3 from current sales numbers. :sob:

These were all between 2012 and 2014, chronologically.

Red Logo Fossil - 125 AU (Weren’t ‘discovered’ at this point and the Red Logo was quite meaningless)
Team Rocket 1st ed - 215 AU
Base 2 - 250 AU
Base Unlimited - 550 AU (this was actually quite expensive at the time)
Skyridge - 300 AU
Crystal Guardians - 250 AU
Gym Challenge 1st ed - 250 AU
Japanese Base Set - 600 AU
FRLG - 500 AU
Power Keepers x2 - 150 AU each

I opened all of them, there are some I would go back and open again even knowing the prices now and there are some I’d love to go back and keep sealed.

I still havnt opened the base set box which i have wanted to do since i started collecting like 4 years ago now :sob:

But i have to keep my monies for cardlings, so it isnt possible to do the things. Hopefully i can get a shadowless box… WHich are like what 1800usd now? In 2014 a shadowles box was 800usd, and unlimitd was 400.

@pokemonsyndicate

a clear wrap shadowless box with long end packs is like $2500-4000, or maybe even more… if you can find one…

of course you could take a risk buying a Green Wing with no addresses and the packs having the red bar at the bottom, however it’s not certain then… but it’s your best chance for a box with wotc logo’s

Man seeing this makes me wish I had looked into collecting earlier, I’m sure I would have quite the sealed collection looking at those prices!
