booster boxes

For those of you who bought booster boxes somewhat recently (not when they first came out), where did you get them from?
Not really looking for any particular box, but considering getting my first vintage box. Was wondering some reputable/reasonable places to check.

Recently alot of vintage sealed product sales seem to be going via instagram so you could try there.

Alternatively you could post on E4 with your price range and someone may get in touch.

It’s not risk free ofcourse but at least you can get a decent idea of the sellers reputation.

If your looking for the least risk then your best getting in touch with people such as TCA gaming or other well known sellers who have a wealth if positive feedback from successful deals.

I wouldn’t recommend using Instagram as a venue to buy vintage, it is nowhere near credible and it not an official selling platform (sorry Razkaii). Ebay has always been a good source, E4, Collector’sCache, TrollandToad, and DACardWorld.
If you ever have any questions about the authenticity on Ebay or the reputation of the seller, post it on E4 first. A lot of experienced members with prior knowledge and we have a running blacklist of Ebay seller’s as well.

Agree its risky but just in terms off supply recently that’s where I have seen the most but yes I agree it’s a high risk environment on instagram

I can agree with this, the supply is hard and more people are hoarding the box’s. Just watch for price gouging and authenticity is becoming a bigger issue (mainly the plastic on WOTC boxes not having the logo).

I think booster boxes is where most people over extended themselves recently. Therefore I believe we will see them put back up on the market here relatively soon and they will be the first to correct.

Totally agree they were the “in” thing to buy recently and now they have dried up

What sets are you looking to buy?

Wouldn’t simply paying with PayPal assuage those concerns about Instagram?

If it only it was so easy.

Majority of sellers will only take friends and family payment to dodge fees which means paypal wont protect you.

Also theres some seriously bad people out there who have put resealed/fake products into the market in which even the most experienced buyers have been fooled.

Ebay or large retailers are your best bet for protection from scammers. When it comes to the large sums of money vintage booster boxes are worth its personally not worth the risk to buy F&F unless you really research the seller and get recommendations

There are some great sellers who will give you the best services but theres also many bad ones.

Not too sure yet, whatever I could potentially find I guess. But I am more just looking for information since I never have bought a box before

then just pay the 3% paypal fee. a seller should have no problem if you offer to pay that extra 3% yourself. if they do, then it’s a red flag…

Ofcourse it’s an option for some but most prefer to go that route initially. Theres alot who advertise F&F only and a cheaper price can easily draw newer buyers into a higher risk purchase that’s all I’m saying

This. If you are planning on buying something so valuable, buy from a reputable source.

Ehh idk about that. Only way I see boxes going down in value is if rafflers can’t raffle them anymore or youtubers can’t box break them anymore for profit. Slim chance on both that stuff happening.

Maybe Instagram will finally clamp down on raffles… but then again we all know that would never happen

Dave & Adams has no less than 10 vintage boxes up on eBay right now. Not bargains for sure, but definitely note worthy in these interesting times.

Yeah I saw some of those they arent huge deals. I probably wont get a big ticket one for my first box but that also brings up an interesting talking point on what people think about sealed boxes being “mint” I understand what it means in terms of boxes, but I have seen some big claims before that some mint boxes are worth orders of magnitude more than their (still sealed) dinged counterparts

I have some Trollandtoad store credit saved up maybe Ill check there

It’s the same as the majority of collectables the better the condition the more it’s worth.

I wouldn’t say it commands a premium of let’s say a psa 10 compared to a psa 9 but it definitely does have a premium.

It’s also display piece for many collectors and it can be the holy grail of there collection so having it in mint condition does have its perks

It also can remove many fears of the contents being damaged inside, even if you’re never going to open it, it’s always worth paying that bit extra to get that confidence in your purchase.

Just out of interest have you got a particular set in mind? If you post what you want with the price your willing to pay on E4 your likely to get some seller get in touch at some point
