Hey all, I was lucky enough to score a very very nice, clean Trainer Deck A Machamp card last week locally. After asking a couple people about price range, I decided to toss it up online for $1k OBO - but I’ve had mixed reactions. A few told me I was too low and that I should have it graded and relist. I’ve also had a few comments that I’m asking the moon on it, and that I have unrealistic expectations. It’s impossible to come up with a real number for it as they don’t sell too often.
I did see the PSA 8.5 sell for $500 on eBay almost immediately after being lowered from $800, so I’m thinking that was just someone desperate for the $ and it sold low. Does anyone know what I should be asking for this? There’s a raw one on eBay in pretty played condition the lunatic is asking $2500 for and then a PSA9 up for $2500 OBO as well (but that one’s graded so it may warrant that type of money).
I LOVE (hate) when I get people on eBay telling me I listed a card too low. Last instance was me listing a PSA 10 cd promo charizard for $60 or so. Usually happens when someone just recently overpaid for one and then sees you list one for cheaper than they paid. Don’t mind them and just try to get a price you are happy with.
That being said I am not too sure on what the card in question is worth and good luck with it. Seems like those are very hard to come by though I have seen a few trainer deck A cards come to auctions recently.
Can we see pictures of the card to gauge its possible PSA grade?
Its a rare card, no doubt about it, but I would say it is under-rated compared to other cards out on the market.
There is a user here on the forums who has a PSA 9 for sale on eBay for $2,500 USD. Depending on what you paid and what kind of condition the card is in, it might be worth sending it to PSA for grading. That said, just because its achieves ‘x’ grade, doesn’t mean you’ll score the cash. Hardest part is waiting for it to sell
If I was looking at purchasing a card like this, I would always go for graded over a raw card even if it was move expensive. That way, I know exactly what I am getting. Raw = gamble
I would grade it. Looks pretty good. See what it gets and then throw it on eBay for a high, but not unreasonable BIN OBO and play the waiting game. The slab will make people feel safer that it is legit and what condition the card is in for such a high value card. Also that it is real. I don’t think I’ve ever sold any card that was worth more than $200 or so raw. Usually grading allows you to fetch more even factoring in the money it costs to grade it.
Thanks, its definitely something I’ve been considering, but I’ve also had some nice offers for it raw so I may just let someone else do the legwork and pick up the extra money on the table if they don’t mind waiting for grading/resell, etc.
Out of curiosity, what do you guys think it’ll score? (Ballpark). The only flaws on the card at all, are a speck on the top right corner and another on the lower left. Is this within the tolerance of a 10? Or am I looking at a pretty hard 9? Centering and all other facets of the card look great.
It is so hard to say from photos or even scans alone. From what I see/don’t see though if you told me in a month that it graded a 9 I wouldn’t be surprised at all. A 10 may be a little surprising given the two white spots I see but certainly wouldn’t be out of the question. Anything under a 9 and I would be a little surprised honestly. The card looks real nice.
Here is the best way to price check. Also possibly to see what grade yours may get. Compare to the hi res scans of this 9 and await the final price to see what yours may be worth.
