I’ve seen a few times where a collector will spend sometimes years building a set or sets, either graded or raw and then they sell the set. I understand most of the time it’s to go after other collection goals. Those who have built sets and sold pretty soon after, why have you sold off so quickly? Is it the accomplishment of building the set and finishing that set that is the peak of the journey? Is it tracking down the cards that is part of the process and once that is over it’s time to move on? As a set collector I’d love to hear different perspectives.
Sometimes the fun is the building (like Lego) and not the end product. Other times it’s possible that 3 years after starting a goal, market conditions allow you to sell for a higher price than you ever expected and fund more exclusive chases. Or they allow you to rebuild the same set in higher conditions for the same/less money
I gasped lol idk dude seems heartbreaking but thats just me i respect the hustle of others i guess.
I just like having them together in one easy to view place. It genuinely takes me to my happy place flipping through my binder pages.
I’ve sold sets to fund larger goals. Rare cards come up sporadically, so being ready with the cash on hand (or sets available to go through auction immediately) is ideal.
Me too. Collection goals change and I’ve sold parts of my collection and some of my sets to fund other cards.
@Charizard1020 didn’t you sell your PSA 8 Shadowless set to buy your PSA 9 Charizard? Same thing
I did. Got me haha
