Buyer asking to cancel

New seller here looking for advice

Buyer runs into a “financial situation” at 2 am and is asking to cancel the auction that he won and paid for, I already paid for shipping on it and was ready to mail it out in a few hours. What should I do?

hes saving you the hassle of a return

Accept the refund and re-list it. It’s happened in the past, but they definitely saved you some hassle by being honest.

Does that restart the auction from 0?

Accept the cancellation and void the shipping label. You’ll be out the 30 cent transaction fee (+2.9% if you’re on PayPal instead of managed payments), but that’s it. And it will save you the potential return/negative feedback.

Yes, it would. Alternatively, you could contact the 2nd place bidder before relisting and ask if they want to purchase the item at their bid.

Yes you should have the option to contact and offer the runner up. Also have the buyer formally request a cancellation, you should get your closing fees back in that case.

Probably because I hit my seller limit for this month? I will look into 2nd chance offer though, thanks.

Can`t send a 2nd chance offer because I hit my selling limit this month… wow selling on Ebay is so much fun :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Buy a store subscription. I pay $25 (or $28 or $30? something like that) a month for mine and I get a $100k selling limit (or some other inordinately large number). And I get pretty much infinite free listings. And my FVFs are slightly lower, too. It’s worth it if you have a lot of things you want to sell.
