Buyer complaining about card condition

Sold a card on ebay recently, buyer sent me a message saying he does not think he agrees with the condition of the card from my listing. He didn’t ask for a refund but I assume that is what he is after.

How do I respond to this? Am I going to have to offer him a full refund regardless?

Thanks

Either way he will likely be able to force a full refund for a return, but whether he deserves it is another question.

did you provide clear front and back pictures of the card, and list any defects that may not be able to be seen in the pictures? or did you just say it was for example ‘NM’ - which is subjective - and I would encourage you not to give your opinion of a cards grade in a listing ever again

Sure, if your customer isn’t happy send this message.

“Hi. If you decide to return it please feel free to. It’s important to me that you’re satisfied:)”

That’s it. Nothing more. Nothing less. AND DONT GIVE PARTIAL REFUND.
A majority of the time they won’t want to hassle with it. Either way,it is best to make them happy.

Step one generally block their username unless it was a damage in transit thing. Regardless I’ve given partial refunds when the cost is cheaper than having to accept the return. Don’t offer up any resolution just ask what they think is best. Worst case scenario if they are chasing a large and unreasonable return then just as I said block their username, accept the return and refund them as you’ll never win if it goes to a case. But yeah… I have gotten out of accepting some returns simply giving something like $2-$10 which all things considered was better for me.

1,000% AGREE!!!

I’ll be the first to admit; having to deal with this type of situation SUCKS! It’s especially frustrating when you finally sell that high-dollar item and the buyer isn’t satisfied for whatever reason. However, if you’re planning to continue re-selling, this is just something you’re going to have to accept and learn to deal with… Echoing Gary, simply e-mail the buyer and offer a return - buyer is now satisfied and you’ll be able to re-list the card upon receipt (it’ll sell again)!

Yeah, probably 80% of the time they just keep it and half of those buy again which more than makes up for the very few returns that happen.

Ok thanks for everyone’s help. I messaged the buyer with Gary’s message.

I did provide scans of the card front and back. I didn’t list any issues with the card since I personally couldn’t see any myself.

I think it’s worth considering blocking a buyer over condition disputes but I don’t think it’s a good rule of thumb. I’ve had some sellers send me some pretty disgusting cards as near mint and I’d be a bit offended if they then blocked me after I returned them. Pics below of the last time I received “nm” cards that clearly weren’t (significant edge wear, whitening, surface scratches, dents and literal black dirt on the surface.)

I just gave a partial refund on a blaines charizard psa 10 that the buyer said had undisclosed damage. It was either that or a full return and im not in a position to do that without selling cards. Not worth the hassle

To the card or to the case?

To the card that isn’t on you as PSA has deemed it a PSA 10 and PSA 10’s can and do have issues. If it was on the case then you say the case was fully photographed in the listing (assuming it was).

Unfortunately partially refunding that guy reinforced and rewarded his actions and will ensure that he keeps on doing it.

did ur listing have pics of the card?
