So I bought a card from them on an auction. I was messaging asking some questions about shipping. Not getting a response so sent a few meaaages. I get this threat and still no answer. lol
I’ve heard good things about them and good feedback. So pretty surprised by this. I guess I’m not getting an answer so just paid it. Disappointing
Thats fine… I was merely asking if possible. I wasn’t demanding it… Just asking. My issue isn’t with that. Some companies let you send your own label some don’t. It’s the response that surprised me.
What eBay Sellers have allowed you to send them a shipping label as a buyer? If someone asked me that on eBay, then I would immediately think they are trying to scam me.
Seller protection for international exists because once it hits the Chicago hub, they are safe. It’s on ebay after that for international sales. Sending direct through UPS limits protection
Ya I can see it as a scam… I guess I don’t think in that way… I run an online business and don’t really deal with scammers so its not on my mind… Maybe the auction guys deal with a lot of scammers / not payments… Maybe he had an off day…
But I would never send a message like that to any of my customers regardless if I thought they were scamming or not. Just me.
The guy sells thousands of cards a year and deals with a 7% non payment rate. I would 100% be thinking of blocking buyers having to deal with those numbers. Probably lots of scams he has to deal with
“Sorry, we have a firm shipping policy. Please pay as soon as you can and reminder that non-payment will result in a ban from future auctions”
probably would have just avoided any issue. At the same time, I can’t imagine the kind of dumb messages that have to be responded to. You’d think they’d have a boilerplate message or something
Selling on eBay with a moderate amount of sales, we get a disproportionate amount of what I consider “silly” questions/request when it relates to Pokemon (no joke this account to close to 95% of our messages when Pokemon is a small fraction of our sales). When we were smaller we used to politely answer all of them but as we grew it just was not possible anymore. Post buy requests are by far the most problematic ones and often tied to scams.
I do agree with @pfm that the replied should have been more polite but I would have personally been suspicious of the request. If you buy on a platform just follow the rules or ask ahead of time if you have a specific request.
That is still offering international shipping though. I don’t get why people think that is so bad.
I turned off international shipping like 4 years ago after a few too many complaints of taking too long. Now that ebay has the international shipping, it offers premium seller’s protection and international buyers have more access to cards. Its a win-win. If you want UPS, send to a vault and then send UPS from there.
