Is anyone out there able to advise me on whether these coins I’ve come across online are official Pokémon coins or if they’re just custom ones made by an independent seller? Any help is appreciated!

I’m not sure they’re the same because I didn’t know they went past gen 2 but I believe they’re part of this collection
Ah amazing, such a quick response too thank you! I fear if I pick up the Turtwig coins I’m going to end up wanting to collect them all🤣 I don’t suppose you’d also be able to help me out with these ones too? I think they’re just souvenir coins handed out at Japanese Pokemon Center stores but I’m curious how rare they are or how much would be reasonable to pay for one.
This was my exact response when I saw it.
@ichiwig pressed coins have a large variety of pressing designs and very little is documented on where and what dates certain ones were available. Generally they are pressed for no more than $1 but i’ve seen some rather expensive listings on ebay hoping for the right buyer.
@ichiwig i agree with Lyle here. The pressed coin machines exist at most every major Pokémon center in Japan. It’s basically impossible to know when or for how long each coin is available for or what you could sell them for. I personally wouldn’t view those as a high sale opportunity unless you’re willing to sit on it a while. It’s a fun piece of memorabilia
Ah I see so the collectability and value of the coins is purely down to personal preference, thanks for the info I appreciate it!
Yeah I get what you mean. I was looking at them to buy as a part of my Turtwig specie collection, at the right price I think they’ll make nice embellishments to the binders & cards
For the pressed penny - you might have better luck looking at a pressed penny resource for those. The international machine directory at Pennycollector.com has several designs listed, but is likely incomplete. From a cursory search, it looks like Pokemon center Nagoya had a retired design with Turtwig in it.
I collect these, but don’t actively search for them - I just also happen to collect pressed pennies. They cost 200 yen to roll back when I visited Pokemon center Mega Tokyo and Pokemon center Gotemba in 2017, I don’t know if the price has since changed.
Those are wonderful examples! I hope to come across some at somepoint in my collecting. Glad you posted an extra resource for them.
The series you are looking for is: ‘ポケモンメダルコレクションダイヤモンド&パール’(Pokémon Medal Collection Diamond & Pearl) by Bandai.

The oval commemorative medals are from Medalief vending machines. The machines are made by a company named Taito.
Quoting from their website:

We create original medals on the spot by pressing circular copper plates with molds made specifically for the facility. This amusement vendor operates in approximately 200 locations across Japan, including theme parks, leisure parks, tourist sites, and character shops. They
press the original design of the facility onto a circular copper plate on the spot. The search term: ポケモン メダリーフ (Pokemon Medalief) will bring results on mercari jp, yahoo and the like.
While the medals you showed are to commemorate visits to the Pokemon Center in Yokohama, Universal Studios also has a ‘souvenir medal’ machine which has featured pokemon.

While it seems these types of medals are largely not documented publicly in an official capacity (at least that I have come across), You can get a sense of release timing based on social media, such as blog posts and tweets.
