What a terrible situation for ACE and the team there. It sounds like they are doing right by their customers, and pretty quickly at that. Hopefully no one ends up losing jobs
Very sad, i know ACE gets memed sometimes but Randolph is a great guy and did so well with his company. Scumbag UK chav thiefs had to ruin it
Rotten f**kers. It sounds like they are going to do whatever they can to do right by customers on this one.
Very sad news for the festive season.
Wonderful that they were insured for it. What a hard video to make. Makes me recognize how much of a solid person they are that they have had everything set up correctly to protect the customers and then to not beat around the bush but immediately take action about it.
My worry is that insurance on collectibles is notoriously fickle, and I’m sure their insurance company is going to do everything they can to lowball the payout. I hope they dont end up too much out of pocket, but I dont have a ton of faith…
Theft is getting so out of hand in pokemon dang
But announcing it like this gives some confidence about their ability to not go under which is the biggest worry
Its sad, i even had to lock up cards in a bank and my collection isnt even that crazy compared to most here too many scumbags out there
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xpnFjPOdk8 the longer video has a more sober feeling
Lots of comments on the video complaining about low ball compensation figures
Oh wait I’m about to post something else
Terrible for everyone involved, the staff, Randolph and especially the customers.
I’m not an ace fan but wish them no ill and hope they can build back better, and make it right for all their customers.
Unfortunately a lot of the comments appear to be saying they’re offering not a great value payout? Hopefully this can be rectified.
Yeah, that video is much different in tone and more what id expect from this situation. Hopefully insurance will cover what is needed. I cant imagine losing everything if this was your livelihood, not just ACE but dealers who sent in cards too. For me itd be a bummer and frustrating but theyre cards so oh well, for others who were expecting big values its a whole different thing.
I do wish that they released more info about their security measures beforehand but i imagine people would find lots of faults and point fingers at them for not having an underground bank vault level of security.
With how quickly compensations are being offered, I feel like they have to be getting the valuations automatically from somewhere, and they’re just way off. That’s my hope anyway. I guess we have to wait and see if people are able to argue their valuations or not.
Idk how big of an operation ACE is but this seems like the type of thing that could kill a small company. Obviously hoping that doesn’t happen but even if everyone is compensated I think there’s another battle of regaining the trust they had
I’m interested to know what their security measures were. As this was a big haul stolen I imagine their security was far below the standard you’d expect from a grading company (this is just an assumption based on my experience in this field).
Does anyone have any pictures or videos of the grading Center?
If I was sending my cards into CGC or PSA I would expect hard security (locked doors, shutters, patrolling security guard) and soft security (cctv, alarms, security notifications to first responders whether it’s a warehouse manager or security firm).
Often these burglaries originate from word of mouth from an employee on the inside stating poor security and a friend of a friend then burgles the place. I won’t be surprised if this was the case.
Oh wait my earlier Charizard Evolutions was wrong. He was offered £60 for all of his submission not just the Charizard.
I haven’t even seen his full list of stolen but he’s easily losing out on £200+ from what I have seen.
I’ve never used ACE but do you have to declare the value on the submission of the card(s)?
I know for CGC you do, and I assume if they loose them/loose them in transit they’ll refund you the declared fee.
Edit - just watched the YouTube vid and you have to feel for the guy.
This is going to be over pretty terribly.
