Cards you wished were printed

Was just thinking about how I wished they would have chosen different Pokemon for the Skyridge/Aquapolis crystal cards and wondered what other cards people wished had been printed. Would you have liked to have seen a Pokemon printed as a shining/crystal/gold star/etc?

I would have loved to have seen a Raichu crystal card personally. One of my top favorite Pokemon and card types printed back when. Eeveelution Crystals would have been cool too. Or a crystal Mew.

I’ve always wanted Crystal type Tyranitar and Gold Star Tyranitar. Other than Charizard, Celebi is the only Pokemon to have gotten a Neo Shining, Crystal type, and a Gold Star. That’s always surprised me because Celebi just isn’t that popular.

But yeah I think most people would be willing to drop Crystal type Golem for Tyranitar :joy:

Ugh, I know Gyarados gets a lot of the hype variations of different sets but I would have LOOOOOOVED a Crystal Gyarados.

Other than that, my only wish is that, when they printed Evolutions, that they made a Dragonair Holo. That artwork is too precious to NOT have a holo variant.

I always wanted a crystal Onix like the show had. Was a cool idea that never seemed to turn up anywhere else.

I also liked the idea of the worlds winners decks and the trainer deck A ect marked backs. Would be nice to see some type of legacy collection item even if it is limited with clearly marked reprints( such as different backs) for some promos and trophy cards.

Maybe that’s why they gave us Erika’s Dragonair as a holo haha they realized they screwed up.

But yeah that was always interesting to me, how both Haunter and Gengar got holographic prints in Fossil, yet the pseudo legendary only gets 1 holo in its evolution line

I wish Pichu made an appearance in any of the sets released in the past 10 years instead of some of the overwhelming amount of Pikachu cards.

Also, these runner-up 2010 Design Contest entries because they have a Pichu in the artwork:

But more importantly, this runner-up 2010 Design Contest entry:

That Charmander is hot.

Yea there are a lot of other Pokemon I would have rather have seen in place of Kingdra, Nidoking, Kabutops, Golem, and Crobat. Most of them are pretty cool, don’t get me wrong, but I agree Tyranitar or some other species would have been better choices in my opinion.

Light Umbreon in Neo Destiny. I still can’t comprehend why this didn’t happen. Made too much sense as a counter to Dark Espeon.

rocket’s articuno for gym sets, crystal articuno… the 3 birds as dark versions in team rocket set… the pokemon the movie 2000 birds could have been holos… same with the articuno promo 48 should have been holo since it was in japanese.

more koga’s holos seems like he got shorthanded with only ditto and beedrill. same with sabrina but I cant complain since her trainer holo is probably my favorite card as well as sabrina’s gengar.

Alakazam in team rocket returns.

Would love to see Alakazam looking more evil.

A full art Latias Ex in the XY era to go with the Latios from Roaring Skies. Or generally any duo/trio where only 1/2 got a full art (like Suicune not getting a full art in the BW era).

A Blastoise & Venasaur gold star would’ve been really nice alongside the Charizard.

Oh, and a TRR Darkrai.

Here comes the pain.

A Crystal Suicune. A Crystal Onix. These two had their reasons justified each separately and at the right time too and what did we get? Kingdra and Kabutops again. Oak, E4, Red, Blue and one mon from each trainer type example on the Gym and Vs Sets as a full region. Silver’s Ho-Oh, Mewtwo & Lugia!!!1**1…**Legendary Collection Neo to the only reprinted anniversary set that matters. So many art academy illustration participants. Gorochu. Missingno. Beta Wooper. Beta Mr. Mime.

Vending and Coro’s into that thick English 1st edition aromatherapeutic print glory. Reshiram and Zekrom Legend Yin Yang Style from the Neon Genesis Evangelion artist who made Cresselia and Darkrai. ORAS era having the same aesthetic treatment of commodity and respect the HGSS Legend era did by making Gen 4’s conclusion it’s peak. More iconic works of art revised to make the Munch series, a series. Every Tag Team I made on my first post. Did I mention consistent generation Illustrator trophies starting with a Neo Smeargle one? Well on the other end of rarity for consistency is if Sugimori continued with Bandai Carddatass and Topps followed the same way.

Definitely what @mjs61290 and @alakazamthat suggested, those actually hurt. Guessing Marowak was the closest we can imagine.
@kinggr Here. That’s okay as Ttar’s shine palette went to shit after Gen 2. I’m all up for surprises, as long as they’re good and unironically the Crystal Golem and Celebi are some of Arita’s best, some of Pokémon’s best, some of Sports cards best and definitely each of those pokémons best.

@lavendertown rechecking the status of rarities of Sabrina and Koga was a redpill for me just as they were shafted hardest. Those sets surely had the anime in mind and if Sabrina had two Gengars she could have easily had another Alakazam. It’s unsual how many Abras were printed for her but only one for the other members. Not complaining, except I am. Same applies with the mons we all know and love with Koga.

But all know deep down inside our heartgolds who is truly needing the payback compensation most (plus that last @azulryu sentence):

…Pokémon’s inconsistent blackpill what if paintrain keeps on chugging.

I cant really complain for the karp family as it had all I ever wanted it to have. I guess a jungle or fossil version of them would be cool. Base jungle and fossil are imo the best sets ever released

karpkarpkarp fits Pokémon’s 3 Egyptian God slots with it’s top three alone.

Genuine holographic cards for Bulbasaur and Squirtle, like Charmander got.

Just discovered this Art Academy runner-up artwork featuring a Pichu:

In some ways I’m glad this one wasn’t turned into a real card as it would have likely come with a hefty price tag.
