Interested to know if there’s any cards you’ll never sell. For me it’s any of my psa 10 dragonite collection will never ever sell them. And I have a few low pop unlimited holos which I won’t sell just because it took me sooooo long to hunt them down
Probably my german PSA 10 1st Edition Base Set Blastoise. Last year after I came back into collecting Pokemon cards, I bought 13 loose packs from the US. As I started to learn stuff about the hobby, I learned that you can weigh and tamper packs, so I was afraid that the 13 packs I just bought were without Holos. Needless to say, the first pack I opened had this amazing Blastoise inside, that eventually graded a nice PSA 10.
I have no intention of selling any cards ever. Maybe one day if someone unexpectedly came knocking on my door and offered hard cash and was overpaying, I might consider selling some duplicate cards or cards that are easily replaced. Then again, I do not hoard stuff and only buy stuff I actually want to add to my collection.
In my case I would say the Charizard EX 276/XY-P Japanese Pokemon Card. I really enjoy the fine artwork. Even the thickness of the card seems to be lower. Such a nice work! Furthermore, this card has set a before and after in my perspective as a collector.
For me, my most treasured card I own right now, is one that I obtained in 2002 when I participated in a TCG tournament in Amsterdam, together with some friends and my mother who accompanied us as “the parent” .
I didn’t do particularly well, but also not extremely badly, so I was in one of the middle-class price brackets that got rewarded a couple of Neo Destiny booster packs.
I opened them right there, full of excitement, and pulled a shining Noctowl! I always loved that card and treasured it as a kid, so I treated it very well. Unfortunately I got rid of all my cards from when I was young at some point (really regret this!) but this Shining Noctowl was kept as one of the few.
Fast forward to now, the card is actually with PSA to get graded! It’s an unlimited card, likely not a 10 (Ludkins pregraded it as a 9), so economically speaking not a heavy hitter by any means, but this card means a lot to me emotionally!
Always wondered: are you from Germany?
For me it is some of my PSA 10 1st shinings, like the Steelix (prob my favorite) and my BGS 9.5 Quad (+) german 1st Base cards as well as my shadowless cards but actually for me it is rather sealed product I would never sell, like my VS booster boxes and WOTC sealed product
More recently, Mason sent me a PSA 10 Topps Chrome Pikachu. That was a unique addition. The Base cards look pretty cool themselves. I have an awesome Jolteon keychain and a Jolteon drawing in a Santa hat from Sectet Santa. Anything that means more than the card.
PSA 9 1st Holo Bleed Crobat from Neo Revelation. Literally the only holo bleed card I wanted to hunt down. The regular Crobat doesn’t even look holo making the difference even better.
My 1st edition base holo set, jungle, and fossil set as well. Too sentimental to give up.
And some of my favorite promos like Grand Party.
However, since we don’t live in a perfect world, to be completely frank, if I was in a dire situation I would sell everything if needed.
Feeding and housing my family would come before Pokémon cards. But if it never comes to that, the aforementioned would stay and be passed down to my children.
Probably my Shining Steelix and shiny Drifloon from Stormfront. Shiny Drifloon is just my all time favorite Pokemon, and the Shining Steelix is the best card I’ve ever pulled and has been with me for over 15 years.
When my son started collecting the cards back in 1999, in his first pack he got a 1st edition Pidgetto. We still have that card. We didn’t know a thing about these cards back then. We had no idea what that edition 1 stamp meant. He’s moved on to other interests but I’ve continued collecting on my own.
My favorite cards growing up were a shadowless Raichu and an unlimited Gyarados and I sent them to get graded earlier this year when I found my old binders at my parents…they were well loved for sure and came back a 4 and a 1 haha but I will never sell them. Also have a 1st Ed Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi from Yu Gi Oh that was my ultimate fave when I played as a kid and I wouldn’t sell that either. Mostly everything else has a price
My 1st edition base Charizard I traded for as a kid and kept in a sleeve stored away in a safe since then. The emotional memories attached to those early days of taking your cards to school and playing with other kids represents what Pokemon was all about growing up and is forever encapsulated in the card.
My PSA 10 Gold Star Registeel(my 1st PSA card ever). Cards from my Partially complete 1st Ed PSA 10 Neo Holo set. And most importantly an old beat up deck of cards my friend gave me in elementary, since they were the 1st cards I ever owned.
This shadowless magneton, which is the first holo card I ever graded. I got it in a big sealed product collection I bought. It was in an opened blister pack that the owner opened to see whether the cards were shadowless or not! drive.google.com/file/d/11BNSQyQOt4DXmn0_WUT5V0geXEC4UkP7/view?usp=drivesdk
This crystal Charizard I also graded myself. I got this card in a binder collection I bought for 400 bucks. I got a steal on that collection. The girl was selling her childhood collection to buy supplies for a pet lizard she had just gotten haha. drive.google.com/file/d/15eteIQgtywaSek_t4mF7MyLuoZ9dfBLJ/view?usp=drivesdk
And lastly this evolution box error wartortle. I got this in a binder collection I bought for 110 bucks. When I first got it, the error breezed passed me as I was looking through the cards. So one day months later I was re-going through my whole collection looking for 4th print base cards and i saw the error the second time around. Kind of a rare card to just stumble on in some dudes childhood collection! drive.google.com/file/d/1X4mF1fodwWS4UCvAX8wBJlqLlWWuiUxn/view?usp=drivesdk
