I want to start of by saying, wow, I’ve learned my lesson and I’m unlikely to to sell empty booster pack wrappers again. Especially neatly opened ones. I feel really guilty about even selling them at this point knowing someone is likely screwing people out of their money without them realizing.

After selling a large lot of around 50 empty booster packs to a guy named PokemonCardShop (CHANGED HIS NAME TO ShopPokemonDaily) on Mercari, I’m having serious suspicions hes resealed the packs and is selling them as factory sealed. I may be paranoid but there’s been quite a bit of evidence for it. Just wanted to make this point to hopefully raise some awareness in case you hope to buy some packs from him in the future, as it seems hes a fairly reputable seller otherwise. Or at least remind people to check their packs!!!

He does have an instagram as well: @ pokemon.trap.house. Not sure if he has an eBay.

1.) He asked explicitly for neatly opened packs from either top or bottom ---- Didnt scare me off as many people like neat packs to display. He was also describing in detail about him displaying and was overall super polite/patient.

NOTE: Guy was incredibly kind and one of the easiest to deal with when selling to, so I had no suspicions of anything initially.
2.) Within 2 days of receiving the packs, I noticed he sold a couple booster packs on his page that he seemed to imply were factory sealed. They had the same pack art of packs I sold him and looked similar. I was suspicious, but didn’t think much of it.
ALL HIS POSTS USE A SIMILAR DESCRIPTION and LOOK LIKE THIS.
3.) Now, a few days later, hes sold 15 Packs across multiple sales, all either explicitly stating they are ‘factory sealed’, or implying so. Selling them for sealed prices. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE PACKS SOLD MATCHES THE EXACT SAME PACK ART I SOLD HIM.
4.) He sold 2 Ex Deoxys Packs - Both happened to have the same Pack arts as the ONLY 2 Ex Deoxys Packs I sold him

Just some examples:
-He sold 2 Base Set Packs - Both had Blastoise art. Both I sold him had a blastoise art. One had a KB Toys sticker. At least one I sold him had a KB Toys Sticker. (This is what really got me suspicious as he didnt even bother taking it off)

-**He sold only 1 Ruby & Sapphire pack. I only sold him one Ruby & Sapphire pack. Theres many more examples…**Heres a reference post of only about 60% of the total empty packs I sold him. Theres many more!:

Not a single pack hes sold hasn't been included in the lot I sold him. Every single one. Hes got pretty much 170+ 5 star ratings, and hasn't seemed to received complaints about the packs so I'm inclined to think he did a good job and seems to have blinded people with his reputation. He was a pleasure to deal with, and I really didn't want to be suspicious at first for the sole reason of how easy it was to deal with him.

I have since confronted him and hes claimed that he has not resealed, but I’m seriously doubting it. I hope I’m just being paranoid, but I really wanted to get this off my chest at least in case anyone decides to buy some packs from him, as I feel pretty guilty for possibly putting out nearly 50 resealed packs into the hobby as a result of this.

Thanks guys

Thanks for bringing this to light. The fact the exact pack wrapper you sent (with the KB toys sticker) is being resold as unweighted and sealed is pretty much the nail in the coffin I would think. Also the fact they are being sold on mercai (which has no buyer protection) and not eBay is a pretty big red flag as well.

Guy has a super punchable face.

If we can conclude he is doing that (it looks very much like it) maybe we could put out a warning on IG to let others know.

I think thats a good idea if he really is. For this very reason I asked if he had an instagram prior to asking him if he was resealing. Pokemon.trap.house is his IG. I was hesitant outing him as I wanted to be sure I was right about it, but heres the additional stuff that put me over the edge:

He responded to my accusation by saying he was simply storing "200+ " packs since his childhood and implied he was only selling them now, and that the wrappers I sold him were on display on his wall.

Within 12 hours he made like 4 listings selling more packs (AFTER I accused him). Prior to me selling him packs, he sold booster packs sparingly, every couple months and only like 1 pack at a time, not in a huge burst like he did the past few days. Needless to say, he didn’t seem to be a huge booster pack seller, but suddenly became one. If he really had the “200+ Packs” he claimed to have from his childhood, why all the sudden would he sell identical ones to those I sold him within a couple days of me selling them to him. Not one he sold didnt match.

I dont have much of a following on IG, so I kind of just posted on here as itd reach more people haha. Id hold off for now though as he does seem open to talk and is trying to convince me that he’s not lying.

Update : Hes dm’d me and sent me videos of the empty packs, which I cant really tell if theyre still empty or not. He also shown that he does have other packs/ pack wrappers, though I dont really know how many or which ones. I dont think its worth ruining this guy’s reputation over, but I wrote him a long paragraph asking him, in the case hes lying to me, to please have a change of heart. Likely wont do much, but why not. Ill continue to watch his selling page, but as confident as I am in the resealing, I dont want to risk being wrong.

He mentioned how hes sold a lot of packs and showed me a picture of his massive pack lot from a few years back. While he hasnt got any sort of poor reviews and seems very open to discuss/talk in good spirit about it, I’ll say hes innocent until proven guilty- which is hard to truly do in this case, but at the least Id say be careful.

Final note about it is to just be careful and cautious when buying packs.

you’re doing the right thing by flagging and by being respectfully cautious for his sake. but the evidence seems to be overwhelming. I mean, the KB toys sticker?!?

If someone has 1 billion packs like he’s claiming, then why would he want empty wrappers just to display? Makes no sense.

You’re not the only one who feels that way about the KB sticker lol. I reached out to one of the people I saw who bought a couple packs from him earlier today, just giving him a heads up about the fact I sold him the exact same pack wrappers and he pretty much said exactly what you did haha. Said he took a look and cancelled the purchase as too many things were alarming to him as well

I mean, it looks like outright fraud to me. there is clear intent to deceive

Is he selling them for under market value? Could be another sign of resealing. Seems fishy for sure. Where there is smoke there is usually fire.

Trap House is a place you get robbed or hustled. Buying something worth much less than what you’re getting. It’s funny his Instagram name is a confession in itself. I feel bad for everyone that paid mass amounts of money for these packs. Now the main question I have is are people actually receiving Skyridge cards in the pack in exact order for example to not be noticed or are they random junk cards and all private friends and family deals. And yes out this guy NOW! Every platform possible this has to stop

No idea but I’m assuming cards from the set as no one has complained about him and given him a bad review. That’s the only thing that still leaves me hesitant. Other than that, he hasn’t sold the skyridge pack yet thankfully. If he does, thatd pretty much be a dead giveaway. He knows I’m suspicious though, as I confronted him directly and got one of his buyers to back out just before he shipped.

It might be a scam but not a big hit. He might have mint or close ungraded cards from those exact packs and found out how much less he would get selling as singles so he resealed them with your packs? That’s my only guess if it’s not all crap cards and bad reviews. We will find out soon tho by ratings. There is zero possibility tho that they are his own packs and happen to be selling them right after buying the clean wrappers off you. If it’s the top scenario as that is definitely sketchy and out of line at least it’s cards from the actual set and some people must be getting decent pulls. But we will find out soon I’m sure. Thanks for sharing

Alright, update: Hadnt realized but he ended up blocking me on Instagram which is fine lol, but in addition to that he did end up changing his name on Mercari to ShopPokemonDaily. Hasn’t sold/listed any new packs. Not to reveal too much info on the guy, but in case he makes a new account or username, his first name is Dylan and he’s from Connecticut. (the location is public on every listing either way). Just as backup If anyone’s ever suspicious they’re dealing with him. His Instagram username has remained the same (Pokemon.trap.house), but I’ll update accordingly if I notice he changes it to something dramatically different, so people can stay clear.

Edit: Resumed selling and listing more packs that I sold him as factory sealed and unweighted. At this point I am 100% certain they are resealed and was able to contact someone who actually bought packs from him and confirmed. Ridiculous.

Edit #2:
Repeatedly changed his name - see original comment for updates regarding his username.
