Been curious about this for a while now, specifically looking at the PSA 10 copies. Obviously the evolutions copy is king when it comes to price, low population, and difficulty to grade. But what leaves me scratching my head is the team up copy vs the new vivid voltage copy. Here is some data on all 3 versions, PSA 10:
Evolutions: 38/368 graded copies received a 10 = 10.32% Most recent sale at $8600.
Team Up: 87/439 graded copies received a 10 = 19.82% Recent sales around $3500.
Vivid Voltage: 92/195 graded copies received a 10 = 47.18% Recent sales around $3500-$3700. (Two most recent at $3900 and $4200)
As we can see, evolutions is obviously the hardest to grade and demands the highest price. With print quality significantly improving over the years, chances of getting a 10 have also increased. With only 195 total copies graded, the vivid voltage staff has already surpassed the total number of 10s from team up, which has 439 total copies, with a total of 92-87. It just doesn’t make sense to me how vivid voltage could be fetching the same price, if not more, than team up when the card has only been released for a few months and there are already more 10s graded. I mean there’s about a 50% chance to get a 10 from a pack fresh card.
I personally find all this really fun to look at and inspect, but it baffles me at the same time lol. I know the demand today is at all time highs which definitely has an impact, along with many other factors. Curious to see what you all think!!
