Doing some thinking regarding some sealed products I want to collect. It seems that blisters/booster boxes are the best route to go. I noticed that 1-pack blisters for black and white base are selling on eBay for $25 now. Was thinking about saving a bunch of burning shadows checklane blisters for the future. Is it true that these can’t be weighed? Or can they? I have some random legendary treasures and flashfire packs that I have saved but know I couldn’t ever sell for much as there is no way to prove I didn’t weigh them. Busy can blisters be weighed?
$4.98 for the blisters and once burning shadows goes out of print, in maybe 5-7 years these could be worth a lot too.
I don’t think any of the current single packs are supposed to be weighable with the new code cards. Although I’m also not sure how or if prism cards in the last few sets have somehow weighed in on this too… Pun intended?
Anywhoo, if you were considering stocking up on blisters for Burning Shadows, maybe you could consider Elite Trainer Boxes in addition or instead? As long as the seal is intact, I feel like there’s less argument over what came or didn’t come in the boosters when someone buys it. I would also like to point out that I was looking at Plasma Storm ETBs yesterday on Ebay and one sold just over a week ago sealed for $449.00. I don’t know what the print was like for that set, but it came out in 2013 and had a chance to pull the Shiny Charizard/Shiny Blastoise. I assume Burning Shadows probably has a much much higher print run and my neighbor’s cat will still be trying to offload pallets a few years from now. It’ll overall probably take longer to get anywhere near that Plasma Storm price, and maybe it never will, but people love trying for that hyper rare so who knows? Burning Shadow ETBs are $29.90 on Amazon right now and about $32-ish dollars on Ebay. You could even wait for Ebay bucks or something and really bring the price per booster down. I think I’m even talking myself into buying a couple ETBs for fun now, Oh geez. The booster box is still the best way to go if you care about getting the cheapest price per pack overall, but I just think ETBs are kind of cool too.
Agreed. I feel like the modern charizard sets are the biggest indicator of prices for each other. Plasma storm, flashfire, and burning shadows. Plasma is worth more than flashfire, which is more than burning shadows. I think any sealed product with charizard will eventually spike like Plasma storm did. Flashfire is closer on that road but still not that out of print as Plasma Storm is.
Plasma Storm booster boxes are selling for about $630 on eBay and Flashfire $320. So in the respective amount of years, Burning Shadows may increase that much, or it won’t because of mass printing. Either way I think it’s cool/fun to have sealed packs, even if I don’t intend on selling them. I have 2 Flashfire, 2 Legendary Treasures, 1 Primal Clash, 1 XY Base, and 1 Phantom Forces loose packs just for the fun of saving. I know I could never get much for them as I can’t prove I didn’t weigh them(I didn’t btw), but they are just cool to have.
