I know alot of people save them, along with tins etc. The cards warp in them though, does this damage the value alot? I have several older boxes where the cards bend and warp due to being foil etc.
Anyone have some input or fancy a discussion?

In my own opinion, the further and further back sealed product goes, the promo becomes less and less of the main aspect of the tin. Its the packs inside that have been kept in perfect condition, unweighed, out of sunlight and moisture that command such a high value.
For example,
Hoopa EX tin: Amazingly playable card, instead of just purchasing the card alone, you can get some packs for a couple bucks more. Promo value is high, packs low.
Hoenn Stage 2 tins: Double roaring skies, (pre reprint), I was buying in cases for tins around $11 and those two packs alone were the cost of the tin. In this case, promo didn’t matter much. Promo value low, packs high.
2010 Spring tins, 3 legendary dogs: This tin had the double promo’s of entei/suicune/raikou as well as heartgold/soulsilver packs. This promos were pretty warped but the packs are mint condition. Promo value is nostalgic, pack value is very high.
Moving back into Black and White era/Ex tin era, promo’s are very much non factors compared to pulling old packs. For example the regiggigas tin, had a chance of having a Dragon frontiers pack. Promo value is low, pack value is very high.
My main focus when collecting tins is finding older sealed tins, that were kept in great condition as I know the value of the packs will outlast the promo’s ten fold. The promo’s will bend due to the way they are almost lifted inside the plastic case, but then again a $100 tin can have the promo alone be bought for much much cheaper straight from ebay.
I guess my main point is if the thought of opening the sealed product to ensure the promo is safe is a priority, I would say do not and keep the things sealed and forgotten about. Especially anything with ex packs, those will command very high premiums down the road when the gold star supply hits minuscule numbers.
I understand I know the packs and things are priority thinking back it was a rash question ha! No one really buys sealed stuff for promos
Im not bothered about them personally, I collect sealed items for the future value.Such as popular pokemon tins pikachu, chari, blastoise etc, older ones and sealed wise…pikachu, chari and so on.If they don’t rise much, meh I don’t mind as I will have paid a very reasonable price for them.
Any suggestions on keeping sealed products safe? at the moment mine are all kept in a closed cardboard box on my wardrobe, covered over with a blanket ha. I worry about the plastic bag effect…I’ve had plastic bags that have been filled with general papers etc for years and they disintegrate after 5+
I’m just getting to grips with the hobby again so ill be asking lots of questions ha, so bare with me aha.
Thanks for the reply
Everyone knows that the Gen 1 trio + Pika sealed products for the most part will do decently well long term, yet not that many people go for it, and at wholesale price, if you have the space, I dont see much to lose for buying a case or so.
But don’t buy the new crappy EX boxes, where they use a regular ex card from the set and just stick it with a jumbo and 4 over printed packs, thats no good
In my opinion the only sealed product that is space effective and a good thing to hold onto is booster boxes. I use $1 dollar tree cases, they look great do not take up to much space and I do not mind holding onto them for years as they will hold up well in those plastic cases.
If you are talking EX boxes, best thing I can say is if you have enough, find empty cases that you can fill up 12 boxes in and keep them elevated off the ground. So many collections have been destroyed by floods, having stuff on the ground even in a box is a recipe for disaster.
Fair play, Im keeping some japanese booster boxes, tins and sealed collection boxes(only specific ones…not completely random stuff) I had one of the pikachu from the hoops pika collection boxes, they sky rocketed.Im not sure why, whether it was the full arts and promo card…no 100%.As I said im still new to collecting again so loads to learn
