So I am very new member here, but not to Pokémon original and collecting in general (off and on for years.). I know lots of the WOTC cards but not post WOTC. I bought a large collection off of someone local looking to sell recently mainly for about 15-20 of the cards I wanted to send off to PSA as I have been putting together a large PSA bulk order to get back into the hobby (then have recently discovered Ludkins service and am waiting on them to get back with me - but I digress).
Pictures are below of what I acquired. A lot of the conditions here are between Played and Near Mint. So my question is if anybody could give some help/advice on some of these cards I’m not familiar with on which may be valuable and worth getting graded or just selling off… I’m not exactly lazy - I will eventually look up the cards - but I figure this community may help my job and also you may get a kick out of looking at these (as I literally don’t know lots of these cards from newer generations… maybe there’s a nice gem in there?)
Hope the pics work and that this is an allowable forum activity!
To be honest, I wouldn’t get any of those cards graded. But in general search by sold on ebay to see what the price is for the card your are looking in PSA 8,9, and 10. You’ll be able to compare quality and price to see if submission is justifiable.
Pretty much every card on the first 4 pages is worth between $5 - $20 if near mint. If mint, obviously more. And if graded, way more.
Might sound like a strange way to put it, but I usually extrapolate it out is that a raw near mint card will go for ten times as much money if graded PSA 10. So most of the cards on the first 4 pages would go for between around $50 and $200 if graded PSA 20.
Very rough estimate, but yeah. Use pokemonprice.com for the selling history of graded cards! That’s thebest source that you’re gonna find.
The Lugia and Light Dragonite Cards might be worth sending off if they could get an 8 or above. However if they have some normal wear like most raw cards do, I would just sell them without grading them. A lot of people would probably want those two for binder collections.
@awsmofo, Hello and welcome. Personally, I would lay these cards aside for now. The money you said you have for “a large PSA bulk order” I would put to better use.
If you are trying to get into the collecting/grading market, there’s no harm in spending time not money and obtaining knowledge and information not graded cases or bulk.
If you spend money on grading cards you don’t know anything about, you’ll be making an expensive lesson for yourself to learn.
I would personally only grade any of those if they were likely to get PSA 9 or above. There are definitely a few good cards there, some have already been mentioned. The ex’s (silver bordered holos) are very popular and can be worth reasonable money in 9s/10s.
Definitely worth considering the fact that with PSA being closed, a large backlog and thousands of collectors prepping big PSA submissions for when they reopen - I would be surprised if any new subs reach people before the end of the year
