I’ve got quite a reasonable amount of comic books, so I’m curious as to whether there’s any people on the E4 forums who collect them; also I’ve been entertaining the possibility of trading or selling some to build up my Pokemon collection, but I’m rather unsure as to whether I should or not ~
Well my oldest comics are Captain Marvel Adventures #26 (one copy being an 1.8 and the other being a 5.0/5.5); Action Comics #11, #30 and #51 trimmed full Superman-story pages; Marvelman (pre-Miracleman) key comics from the 50’s, 4th appearance of Flash, Hawkman #4; lots of 60-80’s issues; Mister Miracle; mainly my collection are key issues and 1st appearance comics, I have to admit; my bronze/copper/modern one’s being most of the Preacher run (with extra Garth Ennis publications and a Preacher 9.4 CGC with Steve Dillon’s signature before he passed away (RIP) ), Black Lightning, Sandman, Lobo, DC Comics Presents #26, New Gods #1, Shang Chi etc.
In retrospect, I’m really glad I managed to grab the 5.0/5.5 of Captain Marvel when I did before Shazam came out
Hey there, I’m actually a comic collector first and foremost even ahead of Pokemon. Have mostly world war 2 era golden age but I do have a few signed moderns as well. The fact that you have an Action from the 30s is…awesome.
Well I wouldn’t say its an Action Comic exactly, more so just the full pages from the Superman only stories from Action Comics issues #11, #30 and #51 (which are trimmed) ~
To me it’s an easy decision, because unfortunately Pokemon doesn’t have enough history and I’m a huge history and art fan. I love my cards and I love the nostalgia of being in middle school and collecting (and the art is great) but Pokemon cards weren’t there during World War 2, for example
Not trying to steal your thread but didn’t think my question warranted creating a new thread. Anyways, I’ve been very interested in getting into comics myself. Where would you all recommend someone new start? I have zero experience with comics aside from occasionally visiting a store and picking out some random cheap issues of some of my favorite marvel and DC characters.
I would immediately go to YouTube and subscribe to Regie Collects and Comic Tom 101 and if you have time watch as many of their videos as possible! Regie for sure will help with all the basics of how to properly store your comics and things of that nature.
I would also just look at as many covers as possible from different eras to see what appeals to you the most as that will help you avoid buying things you may not feel passionately about and then you have to sell and lose money on or have it sit and take up space. I would use www.coverbrowser.com/ for that.
Not much of a story. I don’t care for the stories anymore, they aren’t like the ones in the 60’s & 70’s. Plus I’m tired of having 40+ long boxes full of books in the house.
I have a couple thousand comics I believe but really haven’t followed the values. I’m pretty sure there’s nothing really rare or valuable but the ones from the last 20-30 years are mint as can be. I wish one of you experts lived around here and could advise me on what I should grade.
The pic shows 17 short comic/Magazine boxes (black plastic, Greens, and normal whites). There’s many Mads going back to the 50’s but the others are a real mix.
