Complete German 1st Edition Base - Mint - Ungraded

Hey guys,

I have seen a couple threads on here from a year back discussing the price of individual cards, but not much on a whole set. I saw a post on reddit where somebody wanted a few cards and I said I had the whole set. He told me it was worth $6000 and linked me to this eBay listing which looks good, and mine are in similar condition. However I found myself from looking at eBay already sold listings (thanks to e4, i didn’t even know you could do that!) and I found this eBay listing for a near complete 1st edition set for 600 EURO. The listing mentions some high value cards are not 1st edition compared to the first.

Do the 6 non-first editions make that much of a difference?

The main question:
Are these really worth anything near $6000 or am I missing something as I would have expected closer to the 600 EURO price as they aren’t even graded.

Going off of the Glurak alone, that card with bends in unlimited vs mint 1st edition can have like 5000€ difference. I just glanced over the listings,but yeah that alone can explain the gap in price.

Oh I didnt even notice the bends to Charizard. Good eye! I just can’t actually imagine a 5000 $/€ difference, but maybe I’m naively underestimating the value of Charizard alone as well as non-1st edition Blastoise etc?

You’re talking about one set missing the big 3 in 1st edition, pretty massive difference. Yes, the 1st edition has that big of a difference.

Since you specified “mint” yeah, the Glurak in PSA 9 can go anywhere from 6 to 8k right now I’d estimate, haven’t followed it week by week. The unlimited one would maybe grade a 5, so that’s easily a 5k+ difference. :blush: Most Mint German 1st holos in a 9 can reach close to or above 1k now, the starters even more.

Thanks, thats kinda what I was after, confirmation that they could/couldn’t make that big of a difference.

I can’t quite comprehend those prices as I bought this 10 years ago for maybe £100! I’m not quite sure what to do with it, or if I should do anything with it, ha

If you’re thinking about selling it, get them all graded first. Do not sell them raw, unless you like leaving money on the table.

Well this was my thought, but PSA have stopped grading? In a situation like this, is it worth grading just the holos or the whole set? Im not sure the grade, but I would think compared against some of my other graded WOTC, at least between 8-10…

If we assumed that currently they could be worth… $6000? What would a graded set:

  1. Cost to grade
  2. Increase the value
