Was wondering what do you guys actually think about the current market price of this set, mostly in Near Mint - Mint condition, with Charizard being Mint.
I see sales from U$S2K for a complete set up to $3.9K.
Im still debating with myself if i should sell my set or no, but want to make sure to have an accurate price in mind. I know its a set sough after and took me really long to complete in the actual condition i have it. The only ‘played’ card i do have is blastoise (creased) that got damaged while being shipped (fell out of the TopLoader)
I think the main reason people still use toploaders so much is because Card Savers cost a fortune outside of North America. In the UK I can buy 100 Toploaders and sleeves on Amazon UK for £10.99 with free delivery (that’s £0.11 per toploader and sleeve), but the only Card Saver 1 listing is £15.89 for a pack of 25. The cheapest option for those for me in the UK is the Ultra Pro version which I can pick up for just under £20 for 200 but have to pay £14 postage on top of that. I’d then have to buy sleeves for £3.30. It’d cost me almost 2.5 times more to use Ultra Pro’s Card Saver equivalent and 6 times more to use Card Saver 1s.
I store all of my ungraded collection cards in Card Savers, but as a seller it’s much cheaper for me to use a toploader and scotch tape.
Don’t get how a set that was worth around U$S2000 a couple months ago is now U$S4.5K. lol… reason im considering selling mine and grabbing a booster box.
Thanks for this, I was debating on selling my framed set but I really like it. I was wondering the value myself but just the cards in NM condition cost me like 3k for the set.
Yesterday a set sold for 4.5K; a couple day ago a set sold for 3K on virbank. Sets were selling for U$S2K a couple months ago but are not way more expensive. I noticed some NM cards from this set went up in price a lot.
How much are you going to try and sell yours? My framed set couldn’t fit the trainers, so it’s Pokemon only. I would probably want to try and sell it around that 4.5 mark, but who knows, you can always start higher with Best Offer.
The main reason that set sold for 4.5k was because the cards were mint condition. If you look at his other sets he sold they all brought very good prices.
Toploaders with tape on it will be the bane of my existence. Everyone i buy from in europe uses it and ive had cards slide out and into the tape, ruining the edges. Not to mention just getting the tape off the toploader is an ordeal in and of itself, have had cards that ended up getting bends just from getting the tape off. And then i have to switch out the toploader afterwards anyways bc its full of tape glue and sticks to whatever else i have next to it.
I dont mind toploaders but at least wrap it in something else first if youre gnna tape it. Best thing is a psa sleeve wrapped around the toploader again and then tape.
I’ve been keeping an eye on this set as it’s my next one to go for. I picked up the standard set and for a long time the reverse set was on sale for £1.8k, I’ve seen a couple in the past few weeks selling at £2k, so that’s what I will be expecting to pay. I actually priced up individually buying the cards as well, that came out around £2.2k.
For anyone interested, here was the individual prices I noted (as of like last week) - all NM-EX/VG
All the time. I’ve never had an issue with it either. Once I’ve taped it down the card is pretty much pinched into place, meaning no matter how much I shake it around it doesn’t move at all. Like I said I’d much rather use Card Savers, but it’s just not feasible due to the added expense. If I was selling some £100+ raw card I’m sure I’d use one of my Ultra Pro equivalents, but I don’t usually sell ungraded cards above £25 or so.
Sounds like they’re using the wrong type of tape. I always use scotch tape, which doesn’t leave any sticky residue and can be easily torn through by hand.
