Crack PSA 9s or sell and buy raw?

I have several PSA 9 ex’s and holos that I am missing from my binder sets. Has anyone been in the same scenario? What did you do?

  • Crack 9s
  • Sell 9s and buy raw

Voted to crack since I would personally crack the 9’s to have the best possible card for my binders. However, if you don’t have a condition standard for your binder, and any copy would do it just makes sense to sell the raw and buy a lower condition card to maximize value.

Cheers!

Cracking 9s always seemed overkill to me. But I don’t judge obviously, many people do this,

I started buying 9s for my Yugioh collection a few years ago because I could NOT find raw mint cards anymore. Cracked no telling how many. Eventually I started keeping them slabbed. Really regret cracking. They’re still mint of course and will always stay in my personal collection, but I do feel like I wasted “potential” value by opening them.

My advice is if you have 9s, either sell them or keep them slabbed. If you keep them, but NM copies for your binders. Otherwise sell and fund the purchasing of raw

Depends on the price differential and/or the condition of all the other cards in the binder

It might be worth re-selling the more valuable card and cracking the less desirable or harder to sell ones for the binder. I’ve cracked 9s before, but usually if it’s a low value card or only has a small premium over raw NM condition.

Cracking 7s is pretty affordable for filling out a binder collection. Visually they tend to look just as good as the 9s when in the binder

If you’re cracking you gotta be pretty sure it will be a 10. I’ve seen a rare instance where a PSA 9 was resubmitted and it came back an 8 lol

How valuable is your time?

Personally, I don’t crack 9s (for cards older than 2016). Too much added premium for the plastic. 8s are perfect for binder IMO

In your shoes I’d buy raw and sell graded, only because of how stupid the market is to give more importance to plastic than what’s inside of it.

Crack those bad boys. You’ll have to pay taxes if you sell. Will be cracking these soon for my BW binder collection.

My first reaction would be to crack for the binder. As long as it’s a set card and it’s not a significantly difficult card to grade, no reason not to crack. Selling and then buying another is alot of brain damage, loss in fees, taxes, time etc. Bird in the hand!

Thanks all, the condition of the rest of the set is mixed. I think ill stop being lazy and sell the slabs I have and buy raw copies and put the rest of cash towards the remaining missing cards.
