Does anyone have any experience with cracking out the new PSA slabs?
I watched a friend crack the new slab and it was very flexible and when prying it apart from the label end instead of the edges seperating, it would bend out instead.
Definitely seems more risky if the card slides out a bit and the cracker loses their grip on the flathead screwdriver the slab could close up again and sandwich the card.
Time to invest in a Miter Saw.
This hobby moves so fast. I haven’t even held the new slab yet, and we’re already cracking them.
I think they may have been rolling it out since earlier this year

My latest submission that arrived early may was definitely much harder to crack compared to december slabs. They look very similar though so it is easy to miss.
There are also videos on youtube on cracking newer slabs for sports, but they might have rolled it out later for pokemon.
Hijacking the thread for a moment, can anyone confirm if the V550 & V600 are still just as clear since the new case is made from a different grade of plastic?
A new type of case won’t have an impact on the scanner glass; images will come out the same as they did before
Encountered my first one of these today and damaged my card
Rip
Tile Clipper on each corner.
Then slowly clip the corner on all sides, kinda like how kids eat the sides of the sandwich and leave the entire middle for last.
Then use a screwdriver at the top and leverage it to pop open. It takes a little longer but should not be harder than the previous one.
Thanks for the tip, will try on my next slabs
I’m actually finding that the new slabs are easier to open than the older slabs because they are less likely to shatter and the break tends to be cleaner.
I take an adjustable wrench, clamp down on the very top right corner of the slab (just enough to be able to stick a thin flathead in the hole created, grab and hold the middle and top left of the slab firmly with my hand, then snap up with the wrench.
