PSA 9 Lugia. Was way overpriced I think at 3950 5min before auction end. I’ve been looking for a bit so I thought why not try 3960 and see. Couldn’t be more.
Got distracted and put in 4960 by mistake. Instantly outbid to 5000.00. Wow.
Hopefully wasn’t someone on here. If so I apologize for driving the price up.
The user 0**3 look at his bid percentages for that seller. If you see bidders with more than 25%-30% for a seller be suspicious but obvious scams are in the 65%+ range unless the bidder is new and has say 50+ transactions.
Old bidder accounts with less than 50 and brand new accounts with less than 10 you should side eye when they are bidding heavy on a particular auction.
$5,000 is pretty crazy when it was consistently selling for $2,500-$3,000 three months ago, but we’re still far away from the truly outrageous prices of winter 2020/2021.
To me, 5k isn’t unreasonable for this card. 1st appearance lugia, difficult to grade in a 9 and hard to find for sale currently. ESPECIALLY considering the prices for some modern cards even before the boom.
I bought mine for 2.3 in 2023 and I wouldn’t sell it for 5k
If we all don’t see a paid post from Z&G within the eBay payment time frame ( they usual post the sales way over last solds that are confirmed paid ) then I can’t imagine this being paid for.
The back of this particular slab looks scratched up as well
in time you will be able to get plenty. hidden fates singles aren’t even that expensive anymore and everyone was fighting over that. just wait for the mentality to shift to the new thing, I know that can be annoying but there is so much to do in the meantime
If it makes you feel any better (and in no way is this meant as any kind of flex, literally just a data point), I sold one of these privately for £4250 GBP back in January 2021. In the couple of years following the covid hype its value dropped by roughly 50%. Since we’re in a renewed cycle of hype/high energy/attention in the tcg it’s not that surprising since we’ve been here before, but whether $5k is a sustainable price… I’m not so sure. That said, over a long enough timeframe everything will increase in value commensurate with its age, rarity, popularity, difficulty to grade etc. So one day $5k may even seem cheap.
